Haiku's,Poems and anything that rhymes!

About the girl in my avvie:

I'm not blonde and I'm not buxom
I don't dress like Flotsom-jetsom
I don't live in outer-space
I don't have my own place
I don't travel all of time
I just sit at home and rhyme
I'm brunette with green glasses
purple shadow on my eyes
what were you expecting?
Can I say you were surprised?

That was cute. The girl in the picture is attractive, of course; it is literally her _business_ to be attractive. But you, Reagan, without failing to be attractive yourself, are someone whom other young people could actually talk to and be friends with, without you expecting them to worship you.

Girls anyway. Boys kind of do that without me trying :p annoying at times. At least I can get them to watch Doctor Who and stuff :)

Thanks By the way copperfox, everything you say always brightens my day :)

Really? Awesome! So I'll see if this brightens your day:

Are you aware that, within the last week or so, I gave "your" character in the "Alipang" sequel another appearance onstage? "Reagan Desmond" was seen in convalescence.

This isn't a poem, but its writing. I wonder if you could call it an essay, but anyway, here's this bubble of a thought that's been floating around in my head for ages:

FREEDOM
Is being able to go to Wal*Mart in the middle of the night
simply because you CAN

LOVE
Is missing Doctor Who for someone

HAPPINESS
Is blue skies and Owl City

HATE
Is burning ears and a lump in your throat

DEVOTION
Is a well fed dog

FEAR
Is the monster under your bed

O seriously? I apologize for never reading your stuff :o I just never seem to have the time....

I really like this!!!

Don't ever say you know me
you don't
you don't
Don't ever laugh and say I've no secrets
'cause I have
'Cause I have
Ever see my laptop?
Ever listen to my songs?
you only see the surface
you don't dig underneath
I'm more popular than I've ever dreamed
In ever lasting circles
you still think you hold the key
never
never
never
never
you don't hold the key
Only one girl holds the key
pry it out of her

I'd have to say that's my FIRST non-rhyming poem...wow

Reagan, you do give good descriptions of freedom, love, etc. So I'll cut you a break, and TELL you what happened with "your" character. The major characters of Dan and Chilena Salisbury (the latter being Alipang's sister), together with a pal of theirs named Riff Gamble, were watching Reagan while she was swimming in a public pool to rebuild her muscular strength after her illness. Some creeps on the street, for reasons not concerning Reagan, picked a fight with Dan and Riff. Reagan was knocked down when she tried to reason with them. Then, while Chilena looked after Reagan, Dan and Riff clocked the troublemakers--which, for Dan, was the FIRST time he'd ever done that!

I like it a lot, it's really good.

the swimming is funny. I never last 5 minutes in a pool. They never think to hold lessons when you're awake and ready, they drag you butt out of bed and throw you in the ice cold water and expect you to know everything already. Of course,we just had a bad swim teacher.

Still your story sounds AMAZINGLY entertaining :)

Thank you. There are many themes in this novel in progress. One of them concerns a boy, fifteen years old when first seen in the story, whose mother is one of those people who don't believe in any natural norms for humanity. She believes that people are allowed to re-invent human nature any way they like. So, having no father around to say otherwise, this mother has been trying since her son was a baby to make him weak, effeminate and wimpy, without ANY boldness or aggression. But the boy has had the good fortune to come in contact with Alipang Havens and other NORMAL people; and as omniscient author, I declare that it is not too late for the teenager to learn concepts of manhood.

Then I have to decide if he will meet Reagan Desmond. :)

So the mom is trying to make him a wussy momma's boy? SNAP! That's an interesting plot! You should seriously send this into a publisher someday,I'd love to be walking down the street and seeing it in the window of one of our hipster book stores. "I KNOW THE AUTHOR WHO WROTE THAT!!!"
:D

Aww yes,so a suggestion for the boy,if his mum is trying to get him to be effeminate, will he have that floppy side bang haircut everyone has these days? I mean, how feminine can you GET? (although its REALLY fun to style....)

The hair idea is good, except that the story in progress happens in the years 2025 and 2026, by which time styles will have changed. As for that, now that you bring it up, I have scarcely attempted ANY description so far of how people in that future WOULD be dressed and groomed.

As for marketing, I hope eventually to make recordings of my voice reading both Alipang Havens novels aloud, to sell as audiobooks. I would expand the first novel with some gap-filling material (such as a peek at what Alipang's adoptive parents were doing before they went to the Philippines as missionaries). For the audio version of the second novel, I would reduce the euphemisms a bit, stating openly and fully what that rotten mother is trying to change her son into.

But speaking of works on audio: Reagan, if your speaking voice is as cute as the contents of your poems, perhaps you could interest Evening Star in making you a voice in his podcasts.

So you're saying his mom is trying to make him gay? I mean...I kind of picked that up on the first note. And about my voice,I've been told I sound like my mom. I can also do a really good british accent.

Also about styles, seeing as I read Lucky, styles come back. The "latest" fashions sometimes mean that literally. Like prairie dresses are all the rage for some reason now,and 80's stuff came back. So I think you could get away with it. I have to start reading this book of yours! It sounds wildly entertaining!:D

I'd love to have you reading it, but remember that you will understand the second novel better if you first read the first novel! And yes, Samantha Ford does want her son Daffodil to reject normal relationships as she has done.

SHE NAMED HIM DAFFODIL???????
Oh man that woman is evil...

Last night at around 10:00 PM,much to the displeasure of my mother(who tells me to go to bed but stays up late herself:rolleyes:) I was up sifting through my old diary. It holds many key events from last year and I seem very grouchy in most of the entries. ANYWAY,As I sat by yellow lamplight sorting through old memories,I came across a list. It was a list of poems I was supposed to write. So the next couple of entries over the week will be FROM that list. One of the things on that list was mirror:

Fairest

take a look inside
the glass
see the future
see the past
see the wrong
and see the right
see the peace
and see the fight
see the princess
see the prince
see the lovers kiss
see the father wince
see the kings and see the queens
see the popstars,see the tweens
see the joy and see the hate
see the agreement and see the debate
see the clean and see the mess
now stop looking
lie down and rest
