Phillip Pullman is a sad and pathetic man who will never be as influential as C.S Lewis. This I believe is the true reason for his loathing of Lewis.
I agree, and with everything else in your post but it was too long to quote :)
Pullman showed his jealousy for Narnia in an interview when asked about the popularity of Narnia compared to HDM his excuse was that Narnia has been around much longer. Sure, Pullman, just keep telling yourself that

btw, everyone, this is an article about Pullmans opinions about Narnia being turned into a film, from October http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4347226.stm
"If the Disney corporation wants to market this film as a great Christian story, they'll just have to tell lies about it," lol!

Does it really matter exactly what drew Susan away from Narnia? As we have all seen first hand Aslan is all about forgiveness. I believe Lewis did it to make a point that some young people lose their faith as they mature. It happens, but even Lewis said he felt that in time Susan would come back.

I thought JKR was a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia?

She may well be, for all I know. I was only lining her up for the "chalk-throwing for shallow criticism" treatment, nothing worse. (Thanks to Christine Marie for digging up the quote. And QueenAravis48, always question. Digory Kirke would have said the same. :) )
