Yes, I had noticed that with Eustace...I guess it would have been lost on the audience though, those who hadn't read the book would have wondered why Eustace didn't call his parents by their given names. Remember, we aren't given the background that Lewis wrote; although I think somehow, they could have incorporated that background more into the movie.

I finally just seen this movie. It is the worst and most GOD awful thing I have ever seen done concerning Narnia. The movies keep getting worse and worse. VDT finally killed it for me, I will NEVER, EVER see another Narnia movie again.

Walden/Fox destroyed this wonderful story, filling it with crap, and removing many many great parts from the book. The KEEPER of Narnia is a traitor and should be ashamed.

If I was CS Lewis I would be ashamed of my son right about now and disown his sorry butt.

Defender, I can completely sympathize with you, but I still consider the "Dawn Treader" movie to have been MUCH LESS of a betrayal than "Prince NON-Caspian" was.

Consider Shakespeare plays. When Shakespeare produced a play about, say, ancient Greece, his actors would still be wearing the clothing of Elizabethan England; but the PERSONALITIES depicted in the play would still be worthy of attention. The "technical" departure from the source material did not mean that the play did not give us valuable thoughts about the historical era being depicted. Moreover, present-day Shakespeare productions often dress the actors in costumes for periods long AFTER Shakespeare's lifetime, without ruining the message.

Although the analogy is admittedly loose, I think that the added plot concepts in the "Dawn Treader" were more like having wrong-era costumes in a Shakespeare play. The CHARACTERS were still fairly close in personality to the book. "Prince NON-Caspian" maliciously dumped garbage on the the very NATURE of the heroes.

Concerning Douglas Gresham: I used to have the privilege of corresponding with him. Speaking of what a person's nature is, Mr. Gresham has a life independent of the maintenance of his stepfather's legacy; and in this life, he conducts commendable ministry activities. For instance, he founded a group called The Society Of Centurions, which specializes in spiritual help to healthcare professionals who have been guilty of killing unborn babies but have repented of it. Douglas Gresham has done so much good IN THE REAL WORLD, that even if he HAS blown it in artistic matters, he deserves better as a man than for us to think that C.S. Lewis would disown him.
