Lady of the Green Kirtle

Natrually as good an actress as Tilda Switon is, we don't want her to play the Lady of the Green Kertle. So I came up with a suggestion for the actress who could play her...

Natascha McElhone ( Truman Show and Solaris)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001523/

While Truman Show was big, it was prett much only really big here in the states, whih means she is pretty much a bit of an unknown haveing small bit roles. She has the right accent with a hint of a celtic flavor which I think the Green lady needs ( something about her struck me as having Celtic roots), she also ahs teh perfect vocie for trying to lull Eusatce, Jill and Rillian and convincing them narnai doesn't exits .Also her eyes have this very errie, almost "serpentine" quality to them.

Anybody else have any ideas who could play the Green Lady? ( Sorrry Tilda Swito, Cate Blanchett and Liv TYler, are out of the running. I don't want to see teh Green Ladya dn think, oh that's Jadis, or Galadriel or Arwen.)

I hadn't thought of Natasha McElhone till now, but she WOULD be good as the Green Witch.

Still, as with casting Aravis, we need to allow for the passing of years before the movie would actually go into production. In view of that, I suggest an actress who is probably too young now, but should be just the right age then. I can't tell you her name, but I can tell you where to find her. She is in the movie "Mean Girls," as one of the three "Plastics." She is the one brunette of those three: the girl who is less nasty in character than the clique leader, and who ends up hanging around with an Asian girl at the end. If she spends her time between now and then practicing dignified speech, the Green Kirtle will fit her perfectly.

Kate Bekinsale? perhaps? I think she'd do great if they could teach her how to be mean/seductive ...she usually plays overly sweet characters....

Well, if they stick to the story, the Witch doesn't make much of an appearance - but then, this is a place where they could legitimately "enhance" the story in its translation to the screen without violating it. There could be lots of space for slipping in this villainess.

Whoever is chosen to play Lady of the Green Kirtle, it has to be made perfectly clear to the audience that it's NOT Jadis. I'm sure they will have no problem finding someone perfect for it, as they somehow always do for these characters. :D

I think that Natascha McElhone is a very good looking woman and would do well as the part but taking in consideration that this film wont be made for another three years I think she is a little to old for the part. As for Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls) she is very pretty but there is something missing that I can't put my fingure on. Here are a few girls that I thought might be good.

Well, if they keep on casting actors who are 5-10 years older than their character is supposed to be...;)

I've always pictured her older, not in years or appearance, but the "I've been around" idea. She shouldn't be a young actress, maybe someone in her mid to upper 30s? Even if it needs to be convincing that Rilian marry her, remember it often shocks me how "old" some of the actresses in Hollywood actually are because they really just don't look it.

For example, I would say that an actress who looks as young as Claire Danes shouldn't play the Lady...but Claire's 29! In comparison, Catherine Zeta-Jones is almost 40 and Miranda Otto is already past. I'm NOT recommending either--far from--but do they LOOK 40 to you? Miranda certainly looked to be in her early/mid 20s when she played Eowyn in LOTR, but she was almost 10 years over that in reality. The Lady may prove difficult to cast with so many different visions of what she should look like and her age.

Good points, Elentari.

I think that Natascha McElhone would be perfect for the role from what she looks like in her pictures! Everything about her, I could picture her as the Lady of the Green Kirtle easily.

She may be to old, but I don't know - maybe not. I trust Disney and Walden anyhow, as they normally get their casting (at least near) perfect :p:).

I thought that Jadis and TLOTGK were the same people. I have this new version of the LWW book and it has a character description of ALL the characters and where it sais Jadis..blah blah blah then it sais. She is even more dangerous still in the Silver Chair. So I think Tilda should play her.

I think this is spoken of earlier on this thread. Some new versions of the books hint that they are the same, but it was NOT Lewis' intent and when you read the books they really have no similarities, other than being evil witches. Nowhere in SC does Lewis hint that TLOTGK is Jadis.

Good Point..:p

They are not the same. That was a mistake made by the company that was publishing the book. Also, the White Witch and the Emerald Witch look completly different. The White Witch has pale/white skin and black/brown hair. The Emerald Witch looks younger and has blonde hair and normal skin. Now it could be that the White Witch shapeshifted into looking like the Emerald Witch. IN the book there is a line that says

"Though under earth and throneless now I be, while I lived, all earth was under me."
The Emerald Witch is under earth. But while she had lived, as the White Witch, she ruled the land. Then Aslan killed her. But whoever heard of a Witch that really died. SHe could have come back as the Emerald Witch.

But Tilda should NOT play her. While she is a good actress she is WAY TOO OLD and not beautiful enough for the role. The Emerald Witch should look like she is in her late 20s or early 30s. And she should be blonde.

While I agree with Josh, I also must mention that nowhere in the book (that I have found) does it mention the hair color of the Lady of the Green Kirtle. I know this is incredibly particular of me, but Lewis gives a more thorough description of her HORSE than of her. ;) Besides the fact, while the color illustrations in my Complete Chronicles show her with blonde hair, in Prince Caspian, Caspian's hair is shown to be dark while in Voyage it is blonde. ??? Hence, I highly doubt the color of the illustrations can be trusted. Personally, I don't care what color hair she has, but black and blonde would be my LEAST favorites. Black would blend in to much underground, and blonde would remind people of Jadis.
