Not trying to be agumentative..but isn't there some things important about Christianity besides beliveing in the same God?I mean, there are issues, and doctrine, and things like that...
No offence meant..![]()
Definitely.
Sorry if I seem naive, but what do you mean when you say "staying-on-the-mountaintop"?
staying on the mountaintop is a term used by Christians who are excited, on fire for God and they want to stay on that high. The bad thing is, we can't stay on the mountain because if we could, we'd never know who God truly is. Most of the "staying-on-the-mountaintop" mentality is the emotional, feel good, pat-me-on-the-back, etc....
@JoshtheJester: You have to understand that Jesus is narrow-minded. He said, *and I quote* "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life; No one comes to the Father except through ME."-John 14:6.
being more "open-minded" is called being tolerant of anything and everything, which Christians are clearly called NOT TO BE. If you call a Christian narrow-minded, for example what I said above, then you need to call Jesus a "narrow-minded bigot" because that's what He is. The message of Jesus is exclusive; only those who call on HIS name can be saved. only those who believe in HIM and claim HIM as Lord can go to heaven. so you see, Jesus is very narrow-minded, and we as christians are called to be narrow-minded as well; not to the point where we are so judgemental *Jesus wants us to judge people's actions; not the person themselves*.
Christianity isn't exclusively based on love; it is based on the PERSON, LIFE, DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST. yes, Jesus is love; yes, He calls us to love others, and yes, He loved us with a love that no person could emulate but He also mentioned hell more times than He mentioned heaven or the good stuff. He harped on the fact that we ARE SINFUL and we NEED HIM as SAVIOR, because only HE can make us pure and save us from eternal punishment and pain.
I have more to say but I can't because I have to go eat
feel free to discuss my points.
