Littler Britain

Meh. Cynicism is over-rated. People are only cynical because it's fashionable ;)

Pessimists don't get nasty surprises.

You're arguing both sides.

As for you, MF-- :p I guess I've got it bad, haven't I? And the funny thing is that I'm one of the hardest people to upset or get in a fight with that I know of. My mom is a bit better at it than I am, but other than that . . . .There's something backwards in that.

So, when are you guys going to give us a turn with that rain? :D

No that's not cynicism, that's false pessimism.

Cynicism is a lack of belief or hope in anything. Here's the dictionary definition:

pessimism: a tedency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen.

cynicism: belief that people are motivated purely by self-interest; distrustful of human sincerity of integrity.

I'm cynical but I wouldn't say I'm that pessimistic.

Whereas I am always pessimistic but not nearly as cynical as you are. I guess that means that when we hang out we're an unstoppable force of negativity. Go team!

@derny: i know, i'm a very harmony-needing person myself, can't stand tension or fights at all... the trick is neither to create fights nor shy away from them if they do put themselves in your way.
(oookay, so i'm not believable with all the "derny is a duffer" talk... but... never mind!) :D

hey, you brits, who shoved that fog over this morning? i could hardly see anything walking to uni... (no, i didn't trip over any cacti, sorry to disappoint you)
Well someone else said they wanted our rain. The rain woulden't go but the fog listens to us :p

I'm happy now. :D Got some rain yesterday, so maybe it listened to you a little after all.

Well - Bonfire Night approacheth!! What are people doing and is anyone not from Britain celebrating it too!?

Isun't pankace day on the 28th Febuary?

And we have fireworks :D And my local park has got a fun fair and it's having a fireworks night tomorrow anyways.

24th Novemeber!?!?!

Pancake Day is in February, on Shrove Tuesday which is the Tuesday before Lent starts so it varies each year.

Woop woop!! I'm off to a firework display in Hexham tonight. It's in the grounds of an abbey apparently so should be pretty funky (though ironic as it's probably a Catholic abbey!!)

Ha!! I'm in a group on Facebook called 'A Petition to Revoke the Independence of the United States of America!' and it has all those points plus a few more!

It's so funny, all the Brits treat it as a joke and then all these Americans have joined getting really offended and going off on one at all the British people... it makes me wonder if they have a chip on their shoulder...
