Liv Tyler -Actress

JEFF AND NESSA:

What part of the phrase "THERE SEEMS TO BE" did you two not understand???

It is not "judging" to state that something SEEMS a certain way; it is telling an impression. Neither is it "judging," but merely reporting indisputable fact, NOT from tabloids but from his own mouth, to say that Ian McKellen viciously attacks Christianity.

But are we any better to attack him, when he is attacking us? Also nothing but the Word of God is indisputable.

Ian McKellen is also a homosexual. Also, just because someone participates in decent, moral films, DOESN'T make them a Christian or someone seeking the Gospel. The man who played Rayford Steele, I forgot his name, in Left Behind is a good example; he played a man who lost his family (except his daughter) in the Rapture, then became a Christian, but the actor himself has been in not-good films. On the other hand, if Kirk Cameron, who is a devoted Christian actor, participated in a movie that was sordid, people would say that he's seeking to have fun and get away from his Christian lifestyle.

As someone said on the O'Reilly FActor, Hollywood and its actors\actresses are ahead of the curve in immorality and atheism.

On the topic of costumes, I found this website a long time ago that gives detailed pics and descriptions of all the character's costumes: www.alleycatscratch.com It's worth checking out....

You speak in such duplicity Aravis, for you like Ewan Mccgregor and Star trek and both partake in this immorality you speak of.

Plus it is obvious you didn't understand a word I said.

I'm simply stating "Don't throw the baby out with bath water."

Jeff, how can a supporter of the great Sarah Palin fall into erroneous moral-equivalence talk? You say:

>> But are we any better to attack him, when he is attacking us?

Do you really not see ANY difference between an aggressor and a defender? Sarah Palin could explain the difference to you, and so could everyone who is fighting against global terrorism.

Further, since you say:

>> Also nothing but the Word of God is indisputable.

How then can you have confident certainty when you say this to Aravis-K?

>> Plus it is obvious you didn't understand a word I said.

Vanessa credits you with wisdom; but wisdom requires logical consistency. Since you have claimed that the rest of us can't be certain about facts (even such glaring facts as HEARING Ian McKellen talking with his own voice in an on-camera interview), then you also are not allowed to be certain about things.

In reality, though, it is not maliciously "pointing fingers" to state factually that this or that celebrity publicly accuses Christianity of promoting bigotry, hatred and oppression. And if we are not allowed to answer these false charges on behalf of our faith, it is the same as our not being allowed to share our faith at all--since we suppposedly HAVE TO back down as soon as our beliefs are smeared.

I mainly am not angry at dislike of these actors, I am angry that people act so judgmental and hyprocritical. I don't understand how people can judge someone you like and yet justify someone they do. That's what I'm angry about. You don't like her.. fine. Just don't give list of millions reasons to hate her and then justify an equally questionable person. I never have attacked Ewan Meccgregor, yet he is just as guilty as the rest of these stars.

I also happen to know Pastor in Hollywood who is ministering to over 1,000 actors, producers, and directors. So for all you know, the people you are bashing could actually be seeking.

If we talk about morals...everybody LOVES Titanic and can't see it enough so people like the nude scenes in it as well??? The scene where Rose take off her clothes is clear. The scene where she and Jack are in the back of the car is clear. She is engaged and another guy steals her away from her fiancee. Of course he is the jerk and Jack the good one but still...it's stealing. But everybody so LOVES Titanic.
I am with Jeff on this. Liv is a gorgeous actress and Jeff is not talking about her private life or what she beliefs or about her morals, he wants to talk about the actress and not about the life of the actress. So if you don't like an actress or actor it doesn't make sense to post in a thread like this. It only causes more and more animosity between members.

NOW CAN WE PLEASE LEAVE POLITICS AND PERSONAL OBJECTIONS OUT PLEASE?! THANKS!

*ahem* - can we get the thread back on topic? If I read the starter's post aright, it's kind of a fan thread for Liv Tyler (which may mean it's in the wrong place - I'll check into that). Issues such as the personal morality of her life and the lives of her LOTR costars - and what other roles they've held and what those were like - didn't seem to be within scope. Let's keep it on topic and civil.

You know what Copperfox you don't know who I am. I you know nothing about me but what you read on this forum. I was making a point about not being judgmental towards hollywood stars, because we only know and see what we are allowed to see. Do I agree with thier behavior and actions off camera? No. Of course no. But i know these people are lost and God loves them. So I am called to love them. That doesn't mean I don't look at the flaws, but it also means I don't dismiss or forget the person.

Jesus hung out with harlots and drunks. He preached to all kinds of people, are we not to do the same? How can we influence the world by condemning it? "Jesus came to save the world, not condemn it." Does he condone sin? No, but forgives sin. These people are acting out foolishly yes, but they still deserve respect, not to be trashed. You say I should talk to Sarah Palin, but if you noticed when she got trashed or accused her response was dignified not judgmental.

There is clear line of defence and madness. You can shelter yourself from world to point that you are no use to the world. God has called us to go out into the world and preach to these very kinds of people, But how can we do that if all we do is judge and nit pick thier mistakes. You don't see me looking a list of your history Copperfox, pointing out all your mistakes and sins. So why do you do the same to others? Think about it.

Not without informing you, Nessa, that I _detested_ the movie "Titanic" precisely for its promotion of sexual immorality. Nor was my point _ever_ the private lives of actors, but what _they_ choose to display in public. No one held a gun to Ian McKellen's head and forced him to defame and slander Christianity. Pardon my swiping the last word from you. :p

And Jeff, I have been "thinking about it"--and ACTING on it--since before you were EVEN a gleam in your father's eye. You have NO idea how much time I have spent befriending drunks and the like. You have quoted "Hate the sin, love the sinner;" but the secular world really tells us, "Love the sinner, and APPROVE of the sin." I am very much aware of the harm done by malicious judging; but right now there are millions of stubborn wrongdoers who cynically USE "Judge not" as a device to silence even the most constructive efforts to help them out of destructive lifestyles.

That's enough from me.

What POTW just said. And if you don't know what I mean it would be in your best interest to scroll up before posting.

Jeff only made this post because he likes Arwen who is played by Liv but immidiatly he got attacked by others about things which have nothing to do with the topic at all.
I don't think that's fair. Everytime a topic is posted people are attacking the subject because of personal views.

I'm sorry ..I'm rambling too much but I had to get it off my chest. Jeff is my friend and if someone attacks him I feel attacked as well.

It's hard for me to compartmentlize her, I love her soft voice, but I also love her expressions. Of course who can forget her beauty. :D
