Lord of the Rings Discussion...

Whoops. Yeah, I wasn't aware there was already another one. But I mean, there can be two, ya know. The mods could always merge them as well...:)

Mmm.. Well, it's understandable you made a mistake because you didn't know, hon, but try not to purposely create a second thread on a subject you knew someone had already started a thread about. Plus, mods already have a hard job, so let's try to make it a bit easier for them, OK? ;)

Well see, that's the job of the mods. To keep things in order and help us. And, no offense or anything, but please, please don't call me hon. I hate that.

Alright, no "hon-ness" :D

Yes, but it's a bit inconsiderate to do something you know you shouldn't really be doing and expect the mods to clean up after you.

Yeah, I know, which is why I never make a thread that I already know exists. When I'm unsure as to what there is and what there isn't, I normally just go ahead and make the thread I want to make. EveningStar and I have had this discussion before, and he wasn't this hard on me.

right you are, P-C.

listen, there are always members you can PM to see if they know of a thread that exists....and as I've always said, and apparently it is not at all heeded, there's such a tool as the search function for each forum.

so is it laziness? there is a thread on the first page of The Inklings forum that says, "Lord of the Rings-J.R.R. Tolkien" that is for discussion of both movies and books. It's a stickied thread, so it's always at the top of page 1.

I know, but every time I type Lord of the Rings, it comes up with other stuff. Ugh.

Try being more specific in your searches. TDL is a very large place, and if you're looking for a specific something, you must be very specific. If you want to find a LotR discussion thread, don't just type "Lord of the Rings", enter "Lord of the Rings book discussion" or something.

I forgot about the Inklings. This is turning into a fight, and I hate fights. Although I do have some pretty good comebacks...

I don't think so. Anyways, I have pmed Jules *Into the Wardrobe* to see what should be done. I think the mods would agree with what P-C has said...no member should expect the mods to clean up after them, especially after a moderator themself has had a discussion with members about it. that's like being told not to touch a hot stove yet doing it anyway because you were told not to do so.

I PMed EveningStar about your attitude. I really don't appreciate it when people talk like this towards me. I don't take criticism very well, and that's what you did. :(

you guys! cool it.
if looking for a thread though, it is good to look in the archives. this thread is not unforgivable, it can always be merged with the others.

That's exactly what I said, but they won't stop saying I shouln't expect the mods to do that! Thank you for making a reasonable point, Ferny!

Come on now, this is turning into a "I don't like what you did, so I'm telling on you!" deal. Steph was not criticizing you, nor was I, and if we were, please, point it out. She and I were only pointing out a general rule of thumb for posting. Many of us have said that to others who were unaware of that before, so don't take what any of us said personally. This is getting to a bit unreasonable. And SL892, you're going to have to learn to take criticism sometime, even though it wasn't in this thread.
