Lucy Fighting In VOTD?

Does this surprise anyone? Do any fans care? I think in the trailer she's armed with bows and arrows, and I'm thinking in the video with the MLG that she's wearing a sword. Some people speculated on Narniaweb that it could be Trumpkin's sword- which would fit Lucy nicely, or a short sword.

Would fans be terribly upset with this? I know Lucy's not incapable of defending herself- Lewis himself wrote that she fought at Anvard with Edmund as an archer

Or do you think they'd over use her fighting? Like Susan in PC when its made very clear that she was NOT a warrior in the books, Lucy was even a better fighter... but suddenly in PC Susan takes Xena potion and she's hacking and slashing all over the place...

I don't think they would be upset. Lucy did have a bow and arrow set in the book so i not really worrying about it yet untill we know more.

Well on one hand no, I doesn't concern me. We saw this happen with Susan in PC, she suddenly turned into a full fledged female Legolas. However in Lucy's case I am worried it could taint her innocent nature. Her unleashing a volley of arrows upon enemies is not exactly anthing I ever imagined her doing. But I suppose we shall have to wait and see, for all we know she may only wound one enemy. :)

She is onboard the Dawn Treader when she draws her bow. This could be during Dark Island or the sea serpent.

What I am upset about is that Lucy keeps her shoes on.:p

Those are ligitament possiblities and I certainly hope one of them is the reason for Lucy drawing a bow. :)

I wouldn't mind Lucy carrying a sword. I mean, it would make sense for everyone to be armed to some degree, so, yeah.

As long as Lucy doesn't act like Susan in PC. That was a little annoying.

And I guess it'd be OK for her to help fight off the Sea Serpent. But I don't think she could fight in the liberation of the Lone Islands...wasn't she captured by slavers at the time? (At least that's what I remember. I could be wrong.)

If you look at the backround in that scene Lucy is clearly on the boat. My belief is that its when the Sea Serpent attacks and she is set to fire arrows on it, but then they figure out that their weapons are of no use against the thing and they all go to start pushing it off-deck. Hopefully thats all it is.

Was there fighting at the liberation of the Lone Island? I'm currently rereading Treader, and am at the part where the kids are in the slave ship and Caspian is preparing to confront Gumpas :D

To that end.... anyone want a scene in the belly of the ship? For Lucy and Edmund- a king and queen of Narnia to be captured and sold as slaves..... yikes!

A bit of a blow for their pride? Me thinks?

The PC film Peter would have had a fit and start slugging eveyone. At the same time he would be shouting "I am King Peter the Magnifcant, the Magnifcant!" XD

Or build an army and would lead an ill fated raid on the slave ship an get half the people killed and then ride off in defeat? Naaaaw. Peter would never act like that....

Oh wait.....

Did you notice that Lucy's quiver looks oh so similar to Susan's? ;) I wasn't shocked to see Lucy armed and ready to go; CAspian told her to go into the fighting top with the other archers, I believe...she may not have been armed at the time though.

When she was a Queen reigning in Narnia, she was an archer, and she did go on battles, so yes, Lucy fighting makes sense, even if the reason she is fighting here for doesn't.

I heard rumors that Edmund weilds Rhindon? It would make sense...but I thought their weapons were stored at Cair Paravel.. except for Lucy's cordial... I really want to know what that tastes like....

Anyone notice that Eustace's sword glows in the trailer? Reminds me of Sting in LOTR.....

Really? I thought Caspian would wield Rhindron since he's now the reigning King of Narnia. Alas though with the return of Edmund, I suppose he would surrender it temporarily. :)

Yes!!! I thought the same thing when I saw it!

It won't bother me if Lucy fights, as long as they don't turn her into another full-fledged warrior. She fought along with the archers in The Horse and His Boy, and I was totally fine with that. In the most dire of need, a woman can fight, I just hated it when Susan was in the front lines of battle.

It's hard to tell from the trailer...I'm going to see if I can find some behind the scenes pics because there's a scene of Caspian and Ed fighting...I want to see who has which sword.

EDIT: attached is a still from the set; looks like Caspian's holding onto RHindon if you ask me. ;)
