Mafia Game Eleven (a.k.a. the Eleventh Hour)

"First thing in the morning" hath come, O Inkling, and yet thou art not. O Inkling, Inkling, where art thou Inkling?

You do know I really am Juliet, right? Therefore, Olorin, you stole my line :p. However, I forgive you for mutilating the bard and shall end your suspense forthwith.

Arien: Lioness_Aslan
Lioness_Aslan:
Olorin the Wise: Lioness_Aslan

The day had almost passed when the three remaining islanders carefully picked their way to the cliffs high above the island where, so long ago, they first realized that there would be no escape for them. Jagged lightning split the sky, and they had to hold tightly to the rocks or risk being thrown into the churning waters below. What possible purpose could lead three ordinarily sane individuals to scale cliffs that were treacherous under the best of circumstances? The journey towards the fateful moment when the three of them squared off in the middle of the storm began hours earlier, just after breakfast. With each successive death, the fissure between the Mafia and their victims widened. Grey skies loomed above threatening seas, and when the survivors attempted to chase away both ghosts and chill by igniting a fire, the acrid smoke quickly drove them out of doors and into the arms of the tempest. Since they couldn’t trust each other, the three opted to remain together while they sought shelter. Within moments, they were drenched to the skin and, with no way to ward off the chill, they wouldn’t have to wait for the remaining Mafia to end their lives since the weather would surely kill them first.
Trudging through the muck, they managed to make their way to the deserted shed a few yards away from the hotel that must have contained gardening tools at one point. The remnants of broken trowels and rusty rakes lay in ruins on the floor, and the jumped as a tree branch nearly connected with the roof above their heads. Day turned to evening, but the only difference was that they could now only see three feet in front of them rather than five. The rain had passed momentarily, but they still shivered until Arien found a piece of paper stuck to the ground and coaxed it to life. It was almost consumed entirely before they realized that there was writing on it and that the words pertained to their mystery. Instead of illuminating the danger that nearly engulfed them, the cryptic remarks on the page only made them more confused than ever. Though most of the message was lost to them, it was clear that the anonymous author had plans for them, plans that would only be revealed to them atop the cliffs that ringed the edge of the island. With the hotel finally uninhabitable, they had no choice but to follow the one scrap of hope remaining to them. They walked side by side, none of them willing to take their eyes off each other. Eyes of the permanent residents of the island gleamed at the in the darkness as they made the painstaking climb up the boulders and to the very summit of the cliffs; at one point, Olorin slipped and cut his knee. He had to nearly be carried to the top by the other two, but they finally looked out over the entire island. When they arrived, panting from their exertions, they noticed a bonfire roaring in the distance. If they were all that remained of the ill-fated cruise, who had created the blaze?
Weak with hunger, they knew they were in no condition to attempt the downward journey; with one Mafia still alive, there was no way they could last the night outside and unprotected. Bursts of lightning illuminated their terror as an owl screeched somewhere above their heads. Without time, without choices, and almost without hope, they knew they needed to make an end of the matter once and for all. In moments, Arien had overpowered Lioness_Aslan and tied her to an oak. As she and Olorin turned away, a bolt from the sky struck the tree and it plummeted fifty feet, where it split in two at the base of the cliff. Though they screamed for her, they knew that Lioness_Aslan could not have survived the fall. As quickly as the terrain and Olorin’s earlier injuries would allow, the two made their way towards the light of the fire , using the last of their strength. To their astonishment, the flames had lured them to a dilapidated boat, anchored to the sand. The last two china bunnies, still intact, served as paperweights, holding down a faded image. On the back, in the Mafia’s trademark red scrawl, was the following message:

LIONESS_ASLAN: BY NOW, YOU HAVE SURELY DISPATCHED THE REMAINING OBSTACLES, AND YOU HAVE EARNED YOUR REWARD. TAKE THE BOAT TO THE PLACE DESCRIBED IN OUR EARLIER COMMUNICATION AND DO NOT NEGLECT THE PASSWORD. YOU HAVE DONE WELL AND WE ARE PLEASED. WE KNEW WHEN WE HIRED YOU THAT MURDER WAS IN YOUR BLOOD, BUT EVEN WE NEVER SUSPECTED THE HEIGHTS YOU’D REACH.

The boat that would have served to ferry the final MAFIA to her next assignment would now permit her intended victims to reach safety…for the present.

Congratulations on fighting the good fight :D.

I leave you with these chilling questions:

1) Did you notice what the last message near the boat was was hinting at?

2) Shall I reveal the roles of our two remaining survivors?

I have no idea what the answer to question #1 is, but #2 I´m pretty sure on. But you could post it in case there´s someone who doesn´t know it.

I can hardly believe it, we pulled it off. And fishie didn't turncoat this time :D.The fact that at least lieke knew all the good jobs save the bomb from the very beginning makes our win even more astonishing.

By the by, It has come to my attention that certain mafia players who were mafia this time obviously still need to learn that you can never trust a fishie:D.

I am greatful to Ellie Girl and Rhy who believed me about Olorin when back when Isabell was being voted for. In reality the continuance of voting for Olorin by remaining Mafia members is what did them in, we got Fernie the next round and L_A revealed herself during the round too. The whole thing is just wonderful.:D:D

I am not certain, some may have but after most of the alliance died (that would be Fishie, Olorin, GG, and I, we kind of stopped telling people what we had learned. I did have some suspicion of you for quite a while but was unsure until the day we killed Isabell.

thats what i thought. it always made me nervous when you kept pming me i was like "well there goes my cover" each time lol;)

The first time Fish told me she wanted to turncoat was the round where i was killed. I waited with PMing her untill i was dead, and everyone knew i was a mafia. I then PMed her that we suspected either Gondorgirl and Ferny as the Psychic. We really suspected GG, but i didn't trust Fish at that time, and told her Ferny to, because i was afraid Ferny was the next to go. Strangely enough, from then, Ferny was off the hook with the voting, and GG was saved...

In the last round my original set-up was to tell Fish that we needed her help, because Arien was the last mafia, and we wanted to make sure no one would vote for her. Of course that wasn't true. Me and the other mafia PMed a lot about this, and originally it was going to be like that (because at that moment i had no faith in Fish as being a real turncoat).

Then one thing happened that changed it all, when i got a reply from Fish, telling that she really was a turncoat, day had already started and both Arien and Olorin already voted for LA, there was simply no point in telling Fish that Arien was our last mafia anymore, it was just too late :(. So i did the only thing that might have helped, and told her the truth. LA was going to die anyway, and this was my last shot. In the end it wouldn't have mattered if i asked Fish anything or not:D

(btw Fish, the first time you told me you were going to turncoat i didn't trust you at all, only the second time, when we were first going to tell you a lie, i started doubting. Very good!)

But it was a very very fun game! The number one moment is where i got to know all good jobs, the number two moment is the extremely angry PM i got from Olorin when he found out i lied all the time:D:D

(Oh, and btw, we did not know GG's job for sure, but guessed from her suspicious behaviour...)

(btw 2, Olorin, did you really save yourself every night?)

Well, truth is, I would have loved to play both sides. And Lieke, had you trusted me and told me everything right off the bat, I would have... :D The problem was, I was killed too early, and there wasn't enough information to leak to the mafia to build their trust.. But oh well.. All's well that end's well... I started as a civilian, had no intention of turncoating, died a civilian, and still never turncoated... My side won, so I'm happy...:D But this game's over... Lava's right: Never trust a Fishie...:D

(btw 2, Olorin, did you really save yourself every night?)

Truth be told, no...did you figure out Olorin's role early on? If so, I'm surprised his head wasn't on the block more often.

Well played, both sides! It truly came down to the very end. If Arien had voted for Olorin, the Mafia would have won (Olorin had his suspicions about L_A)

I was so upset that a certain angel was not using his senses during some of the PM fests. I was very willing to have everyone know that I was the Duke, but as lieke can testify, I never gave out the names of people with special jobs, I just said that so and so could be trusted or not.

Inkling: There was the ghosty PM factor though that kind of helped our win.

True, but the Mafia had the exact same advantage, and *definitely* used it :D. We might want to evaluate allowing ghosts to PM, although that would mean everyone would be on their honor. I know I didn't want to monitor what I couldn't control :D.
