Magician's Nephew Speculation

There's no White Witch in Caspian or Dawn Treader either, but they put her in the movies anyway. And I'm hoping they don't put her in Silver Chair, but it is possible.

It would ruin "The Silver Chair" if they had Tilda playing the Green Witch. I suspect that is one reason they, if they do, will first film "The Magicians Nephew" first as Tilda isn't getting any younger, and they need her in the film to make the character of the White Witch consistent with the other films.

Will Poulter isn't getting any younger either... seems like that should be more of a concern :/

But yeah, it would totally ruin it if Tilda played the green witch. I highly doubt they would do that.

You guys have left me in stitches. :D :D :D

Touche!

You would think that, right? :p

Well, seeing as how I won't be seeing either film if/when they come out, film discussion of future films matters little to me at the moment.
LOL!

The BBC version have the same actress playing both. Also, it is clear in the books that there is a connection between the White Which and the Green Lady, so it would not be totally stupid. But it will probably confuse people. Maybe they could have the Green Lady talking to her from beyond the grave using some sort of dark magic. Something like that to give her a cameo.

No, it's not "not totally stupid" for them to have Tilda play the Green Witch. Why? Because Lewis made clear they were 2 different people. I would suggest to the makers, if they would like to keep us as fans, NOT to make an inexcusable decision as to cast Tilda as the Green Witch. The only other film she should be possibly cast for is SC. Period.

Douglas Gresham, in an interview mid-March this year, stated that Tilda Swinton will NOT play the Green Witch, though he doesn't know who will.

Um yes...which is why I'm confused as to why her being cast in the role keeps being brought up over and over again.

And to clear up my last post, I was meaning to imply that it IS totally stupid for them to even consider casting her as the Green Witch. Just in case my post was misunderstood; the wording wasn't the best.

I don't know how much control Douglas Gresham has - or exerts - over the movies. From the beginning, his involvement has struck me as a publicity "see the closest thing to the actual writer give his seal of approval to the films" stunt.

Future Narnia films...

It's a good thing that another Narnia movie is not in the making currently. Just recently movie fans have been innundated with blockbusters, Harry Potter being the latest and it looks set to continue right to the end of the year.

The interest is still there for another Narnia film to be made.

I agree with that. The BBC caused a great deal of confusion by casting the same actress as Jadis and the Queen of Underland, leading some to think they were the same person. In fact, some know-nothing blurb writer compounded the confusion on one release of the books by stating in cover summary that they were the same person, though there's no support for that in the text. There's a thread around here somewhere speculating on that, which doesn't need to be drug up.

Years ago, Douglas Gresham gave me the privilege of seeing a Russian-language edition of the complete CoN, so I could critique the translation. The Russian translator had meddled with the content in "Silver Chair," claiming that the Green Witch WAS Jadis. I wrote to Mr. Gresham that this was a SERIOUS flaw, since if Aslan couldn't make Jadis stay dead when He killed her, His omnipotence was gone.

so there's another Narnia movie in the making or is it pretty much planning and talk?
There's one in development, there will be no news yet until a pitch to both Fox and the C.S. Lewis estate gets a greenlight. Until then, we must drink tea and knit. Oh! You seemed to have lost a thread dear, better fix it. *points to the scarf you've been knitting*

I've got MY scarf: a Doctor Who-length scarf that my departed Janalee made for me.
