movie predictions

with all the reviews and comments from this fansite and from other sites, i have a nagging feeling that the 'THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER' will not be successful enough to make way for more of the series to come to the silver screen. 'THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE' did a great job, however, as the series goes on, i can sense that the quality of the narnia series is starting to get lost will all the hollywood-ized changes, as in the case of PC. do you think that, if the series continues, there will be more and more impropable changes to the innocent chronicles? will these changes affect its reputation in the box office and to the audience? will it make them bored with the movie versions? and most importantly, will all the chronicles be made into movies? and why do you think so? i wish for all of it be made, and i may be wrong about it, but what about you guys? what are your predictions for the movies?

well VotDT will have an other producer, maybe he'll do a great job, and it will inspire Andrew Adamson for TSC, since we know he's going to make Jill's and Eustace's first adeventure together ;)

i made this thread because of what something someone told me. he said that narnia is old news and doesn't matter anymore, because its not that popular now; its no longer a big deal. i know that narnia is a great movie, but maybe people (who are not familiar with narnia) are getting bored with the movies, with all those cliches and stuff; they think, and quit buying their dvds and such. do you think this is true?

(the thing that i'm so worried about is the fact, that if the series cannot be finished, i won't see magician's nephew and last battle to be made into movies! i love those books so much!)

 it's absolutely wrong for me, I'm a big fan of the Chronicles of Narnia, and I could never get bored to it !!!!! and I'm sure lots of people in The Dancing lawn feel the same way, right ?? ;)

7 movies or less ??

Ok, wome people in the Dancing lawn say they won't be 7 movies, I hope this is a wrong rumor, I would be sooo dispointed to not see all the books on screen.

Some say it will stop after TSC !! why couldn't we watch the adventures of MN, HB, and LB ??

tell me what you think and what you know, thanks ;)

As of right now, we know there will be three movies. LWW and PC have been made and VoDT is in pre-production.

Douglas Gresham (C.S. Lewis' stepson and the current head of Lewis' estate) has stated that he is "interested" in making all seven movies. He mentioned SC being a strong possibility, but also mentioned that he wasn't sure how they could make some of the others into movies. HHB and TLB could be viewed as anti-Arab because of their depiction of the Calormens. MN and TLB could be considered too "Christian" for today's society.

What needs to happen for the franchise to be successful is for VoDT to make at least $200 - $250 million domestically. A later release date (November 2010 is an unconfirmed date right now) and some good marketing on Disney's part are crucial for this to happen.

As much as we would like to see all seven made into movies, it is hard to commit to doing them until the future is more clear.

Oh I REALLY HOPE they make HHB. That has always been my favorite book of them all. What a waste not to make it. Seriously.

bella, the series is only as good as the last movie. And yes, for right now, Narnia is old news. It came out mid-may, which is now about five months ago. Only die-hard fans are going to still be talking about it om fansites such as this. The tide will turn again in two years when VotDT comes out (assuming a Nov-Dec release). Depending on how well it does, its time in the spotlight will run its course as well.

MrBob is right; the last movie is old as far as movies go. We can hope for a longer lasting impact with VDT if it has the December release date, but even then, it will get old and only die-hard fans will keep obsessing about it. But that's OK -- it was the same with Star Wars, and they made those movies for 30 years.

As for the books, I think in the USA already a lot of kids don't read them. There's just so much other sci-fi/fantasy, and by comparison, in the minds of today's children, the Narnia books are very simplistic.

yeah, you're right Knight of Narnia, but maybe they will change some stuff in the movies (MN, HHB, TLB) to not make them unliked :) I hope so, because I really want them on scrren !!

I know PC didn't have a lot of success, but that was because it didn't stick to hte book !!! VotDT will have an other porducer, so we never know ...

VDT will have another director, but the producers are the same. Mark Johnson isn't going anywhere to my knowledge. Michael Apted will be the director though with Andrew available for any help needed.

On a side note, I merged the 7 movies thread with this one. Please, if you see a thread on a topic already then do not start another one, but rather post in the one already existing. Thanks! thus, imerge.

sorry, I thaught it was a little different but you're right, the thread were pratically the same :( But the new director will make some changes I guess ...

I think VOTDT will definitely make enough money for the rest to be made. It may not do as well as the previous two but it probably won`t cost as much to make.

Aslan is Peter's father. (Noo! That's impossible!)

Edmund dies and comes back as a cyborg.

Reepicheep jumps off an exploding roof.

things blow up for no reason.

etc.

This belongs to the worst that could happen..... but who cares!:D

he meant it in a bad way cause, i think, he thinks that the series is doomed as in it is doomed in the first place, so in a way he said it that narnia practically flunks beginning with the books and with the first movie, LWW (sorry, i dont know how to putit down in a short sentence)

also, i am very worried for the 'welfare' of HHB movie because, as what knight of Narnia said, it is too anti-arab to be made (and would definetly cause worldwide controversials) yet, if the moviemakers change the whole story, the magic and creativity of Narnia would be lost (and lose some money)

do you think Andrew Adamson didn't want to risk lots of money by letting another director make VoDT??? And that he's waiting to see the success to know if he can make TSC or not ??
