museum hopping

I guess the most recent Museum I have visited is a little Museum exhibit at a local park that is the site of a late 18th Century fort that was defending settlements in TN from the Native Americans. Or a similar small local Museum at one of the oldest Antebellum Courthouses still standing in Tennessee. We have some old deeds signed by Andrew Jackson when he was a lawyer in the area and it was State Capitol for the day.

My adopted home state of Colorado has an extensive history of mining, metalworking and refining. Wood Nymph and I have toured mining museums in Golden, Littleton and Colorado Springs. The last of these has a cool guy who explains to kids how 19th-century machines worked.

There is a hiking trail at Big South Fork on the boarder of Tennessee and Kentucky that has a mining museum of sorts. It is small and unmanned but it was cool still.
