i was watching the special features on the SEE DVD of the Return of the King and apparently Howard Shore took his orchestra and toured the world playing selected songs from the movies and i was so beat up that i didnt hear about this earlier, so i was wondering if any of you saw the show :)

also wondering what eveyones favourite peice of music from the movies is?

hmmm, well my favorite peices of music from the movies would be "the fellowship" and the Rohirrim theme...I also like the song that Pipin sings, and that I can't remember the name of..I know the words though! :D....and I had no idea about the show either...I wish I could have gone :(...

Mines definitely Bridge of Khazad Dum from the Fellowship..... amazing the way it links those different emotions together into music, and portrays them so well!

Without a shadow of a doubt it is the very beautiful piece from ROTK called The Steward of Gondor (that is the song in which Pippin sings to Denethor) that is my favorite, perhaps of all time. It is so tragic and fits well with the Steward Denethor; it touches my heart every time I hear it (not so much Boyd's singing as the piece itself).

I have seen the Howard Shore DVD, as it came with my platinum edition ROTK. It's "pretty good," if I may say, but I prefer to listen to his songs while watching the film or on CD while driving my car - it adds a certain lustre.

I like thr ROTK soundtrack, that's the one i have, im not sure what my fave one is,
it is really great to listen to eh?
I cant wait to hear the movie soundtrack of LWW, it might be better then LOTR music ;)

you can search far and wide
you can drink the whole town dry
but you'll never find a beer so brown
as the ONE WE DRINK IN OUR HOMETOWN!
you can drink fancy ales
you can drink them by the flagon
but the only brew for the brave and true...............
COMES FROM THE GREENDRAGON!

hahahahaha oh man i love that song
oh and also..

Home is behind..
the world ahead
and there are many paths to tread
through shadows
through the edge of night
until the stars are all alight (alligned?)
mist and shadow
cloud and shade
all shall fade
all shall .... FADE

lol... yeah i know those both by heart...

ahah, great choice Citronella. i cant believe that drinking song in the fellowship got cut from the theatrical release, its so good.
btw welcome, i see ur a newbie *kiss*

Concerning Hobbits and In Dreams (featured in the Breaking of the Fellowship) -FOTR
The Golden Hall and Gollum's song-TTT
Steward of Gondor, Grey Havens, and Into the West-ROTK

I have the ROTK soundtrack...I have always like the Rohan themes best...I guess I am a sucker for solo violin pieces...lol.

i have TTT soundtrack, but i bought In Dreams and May It Be on iTunes.

i love the music!!! last year me and my friend sang In Dreams for the talent show, and this year we are gonna do Into The West.

i <3 the lotr music!!!

i knew ABOUT THE TOUR BUT THE PRESS WAS SO FAR IN ADVANCE OF IT WHENthe 21st rolled around i was ding something else. I could have gone to the Hollywood bowl. (bummer).

I don't know if I have a favorite, but I love the fellowship theme, the council of elrond (not sure if thats it, the one w/ the song they play when aragorn and arwen are on the bridge), the steward of gondor, and the one they play when the rohirrim ride to Gondor. And of course Into the West. I'm not good with titles, but those are my favorites.

Eh...I know this is a good while after these other posts...but I just recently found this site. Anyways..I love LotR (I own all three soundtracks, movies, and the sheet music...crazy I know) but I have to say my fav. songs are In Dreams, the Rohirrim theme, the Gondor theme, Into the West, Steward of Gondor, and the Shire theme. And I saw where someone mentioned about the Narnia soundtrack...I received it as a gift a little while back and absolutely love the music on it. It's a tie between LotR and Narnia music for me ;) but then again, I love almost any instrumental music.

I saw and heard the Lord of the Rings music played in concert, but unfortunately Howard Shore wasn't directing, but Billy Boyd (Pippin) WAS there, and HE SANG THE SONG OFF RETURN OF THE KING! It was very exciting, and he sounded totally magical and beautiful. The song was absolutely perfect for the movie, and he was amazing performing it. I actually got to see him pretty close, because he and the director did a Q and A before the concert, which was a lot of fun. I learned that Howard Shore composed some of the LOTR symphony in Pittsburgh, where the concert was. Besides the fact that I was pretty much as high up as you could go, and I'm very afraid of heights it was a magical, perfect experience. There is another symphony in Cleveland in February I believe, but I'm not sure if someone involved in LOTR will be there or not. Hopefully they will, even if I don't have the money to attend again.

As to the other question, you can probably tell that I love LOTR music. Aniron, the song in elvish is my favorite.
P.S. The person they had singing Into the West at the Symphony was much better than the one on the CD. She was amazing.
