defintly White Whitch. She's the one that ALMOST defeated Aslan. I mean, Lady of the Green kirtle is also powerful, but nothing compared to white whitch, white witch would have turned her inte stone. And the Sea Serpent, it would have swum all the way to Calormen if it had seen Aslan (the Witch was scared to him but still, she ALMOST defeated him.

The Lady of the Green Kirtle. The White Witch was tough, but Peter was able to hold her off by himself (despite having very little battle experience) until Aslan arrived and killed her. At least in Narnia, she wasn't invincible if her wand was broken. The Lady of the Green Kirtle, on the other hand, could turn herself into a snake that could hold off three Narnians experienced at fighting, all at once. She came very close to killing Rilian without needing any weapon other than her coils.

Yeah, but when fighting Peter she had no wand. With it, Peter should not have a chance. and Eustace was not more experienced then Peter...

I think they're all good bad guys/girls if you take my meaning.;)
And a few have been forgotten methinks; Tash, the Carlomene soldier, Shift and all the other bad guys in the Last Battle.
I'd pick the White Witch, the Lady of the Green Kirtle or Tash.

I voted for the green witch, even her words were awfully hard to fight. And I hated her the full-time, way more than the other "bad guys". But the incarnation evil is Tash, I think.

I voted for the White Witch. She is very powerful in many different ways across several worlds for many centuries.

She is very clever, able to use words to manipulate Diggory in MN and Edmund in LWW.

In Charn, she had the magical knowledge to end all life on a world with just one word. In Narnia, she mastered the knowledge necessary to perform magic in that world, becoming strong enough to work an enchantment on Narnia so that it was winter for one hundred years. She was able to turn her enemies into stone in Narnia, and into dust in Charn.

She was able to use a sword and dagger with at least some degree of proficiency in LWW, and in England, she was able to balance on a cab as if it were some sort of chariot. In Charn, she was able to wage a war against her sister that lasted long enough for the population of that world to be seriously depleted and the capital city to be overrun with blood. In Narnia, she was able to conquer Narnia for her one hundred year winter reign, which probably involved some military exploits. That makes me think that she definitely has experience fighting on the battlefield (can defend herself and can attack her foes quite effectively) and also has some degree of skill orchestrating long scale military campaigns. That seems to be supported in LWW when she organizes the army of the dark creatures and leads them into battle against those loyal to Aslan.

In my opinion, the Witch is clever, magically knowledgeable, and able to wage a bloody battle no matter what world she is in, so, for that reason, she is the villain I would least want to fight, because she is strong in so many different kinds of fighting in so many places over such long eras.

Hey! Where's Uncle Andrew?

He's no real threat: you'd just have to say 'boo' to him and he'd run a mile!

Quite agree with you! Jadis also has my vote, and wins by miles. True, Peter was able to hold her up, after she had lost the use of her wand, until Aslan arrived. However, we do not know how long he was fighting her: it might only have been a few moments. In any case, Jadis is totally evil, without a single redeeming feature, physically strong, adaptable to setbacks e.g when she discovered her magic didn't work in London, an excellent tactician and strategist, highly intelligent, and can be charming when it suits her. Moreover, ONLY a resurrected Aslan was able to kill her. Even death would not have been the end of her, if the werewolf and hag in 'Prince Caspian' had been able to complete their ritual.

I voted for the White Witch because her turkish delight was high in calories and trans fats. :D

I think that we have gotten to the heart of what makes the White Witch such a terrifying villain. Everything else is just icing on her caloric, gluten-laden cake:D

I'd have to agree with Sunshine and others - Jadis was the premiere villainess of the Chronicles. Tash might have been a challenge, but we know so little about him, and he's only tangentially involved in the stories, anyway.

The Emerald Witch (whatever her name was) would have been a tough nut to crack, too!

Oh wow. So many to choose from. But may I ask why weren't Shift and Rishda included in the poll? I know Rishda is a mortal, but how hard can it be to fight against manipulation? Could he use mind control as well without using magical powers like the Lady of the Green Kirtle?

But maybe on the polling, I might go with Jadis. You can't stop someone from turning people into stone without breaking the wand, like Edmund did.

Tash is most definitely is the most formidable villain in the whole story because while he the Calormene God, he is also the Narnian personification of the devil.
