Narnia Four Disc EE Discussion Thread

It's advertized that it is supposed to be in there and on the box it shows a picture of the book. So I am going to email Disney or Walden or both and ask about it that's for sure.

I don't recall one being in my box either. I'll check again when I get home.

OK all of you who got the EE version. I got it for Christmas today and I really enjoyed the movie again. The new battle scenes were great.

Anyway...According to the back of the case it came in it said that there was supposed to be a guide book that came with it also. Mine was missing from it. Did you all get a book with it or do I need to email someone about it?

I think i got a guide book to mine.. it was called some type of "Companion" guide thing.

I got it yesterday!:D It was relly good!!:D Does anyone know were to get the Lord Of the Rings Four disc EE version, if its out yet that is.

My Review

Of the first disc, the extended edition of LWW, I was highly disappointed. There wasn't 30 minutes, as I had hoped, but barely 10 minutes of footage. Though I did enjoy the extra Running from the Macready bit and the extra battle footage, but I was very disappointed when the dance sequence at the coronation didnt' make it in.

On to the second disc: nothing to say since I had already seen this disc from April until December.

Third disc: The documentary: "C.S. Lewis: Dreamer of Narnia" was very enjoyable. I loved it.

fourth disc: Another version of the film: "Visualizing the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" gives you an inside look into the making of the film with never before seen footage. I loved watching it. The interviews with Gresham, the producers, director, and cast was very insightful and gave you a glimpse at the fun that the cast and crew had making the film.

For the first two discs, it wasn't worth the money. for discs 3 and 4 and the bookends, however, the cost was reasonable.

1) Review...um... It was worth the money? Even though I got it as a xmas present. The case is pretty?
2) I think it was amazing. Each time they had a new clip I was liek woah. Seriously, my mom was watching it with me, and each new clip I was liek 'WOW, THAT WAS ADDED' She got a bit annoyed. xD
3) Personally, I'm glad they cut out everything they did. Like, the Battle scene, it was interesting watching all of that, but the graphics were a bit bad. And OH MY GOD, THE VAMPIRES. I was no expecting that!!! I'm glad they cut them out though, because they didn't really add much to the whole scene. And another thing, did they have more footage of Will and Tilda fighting? It seemed a tad longer, but only by a second or two, I couldn't tell...

I got the LOTR 4 dis EE last Christmas. I have all three films EE of the LOTR. I would imagine that you can get them at amazon.com for a very reasonable price.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm told from my brother "it's just ten more minutes, don't see it, it's a waste of time..." and by my sister "GO SEE IT!!!!"

I buy on internet

...Just weeks ago, it would never have even occured to me to post that question in a Narnia forum. "Of course the big fans are gonna get the 4-disc Extended Edition!" It seemd like a no-brailer.

But I have been really surprised at the number of fans who say they aren't getting the EE, usually because of the money.

It's really bizarre to see that happening. It's like if people suddenly start posting that they dont want to see PC anymore. I'm reading this thinking "are these the same people that were going nuts last December??"

On December 12, first thing in the morning, I'm driving to my local Christian bookstore and getting the Gift Set (if they have it). I can't imagine living without it, to be honest, haha.

So, I can't believe I'm asking this but, are you getting the EE?

Well. I do have the Extended Edition of Narnia. It's a cool DVD and I didn't had to go to any stores, I buy it from Amazon.com...

Extended Edition:
This is going to go deep in places and get a little critical, but overall I thought the added parts made the movie much better for the most part and much more cooler. The first added shots with Edmund complaining about going to the country did help establish the characters earlier by showing each of their tendencies before they went to Narnia. The spot where Edmund handed Lucy's toy to the boy sitting across from them kind of showed his mean-spirited mind at the time along with Lucy's perpetual kindness, but I felt like it slowed the beginning credits down.
The extended running from Macready scene was a nice addition, but the part where Peter says, "She's faster than she looks," was a little awkward for me since the Pevensies all laughed and then slowly resumed running again. This scene was one that I thought should have been put in the theatrical version. The extended scene of traveling to Mr. Tumnus' house and then to Beaversdam probably should have also been added, but time-saving is understandable since this part dragged the tiniest bit in a few places.
The extended White Witch's courtyard scene was great and expanded the mystery of how all of these statues came to be. Next when the plunder and search of the Beaver's house was added, I thought the transition between the original shot and the added ones was awkward, but it smoothed out somewhat before it got back to the original.
The added shots of spring coming back to Narnia were great making a good time lapse in between the waterfall scene and the Witch's arrival at the cliff along with showing some beautiful landscape. I really wish they had been put into the theatrical version, but they were probably cut to help move the picture along. Then when they went back to the White Witch, I had my biggest dissapointment. I honestly thought they were going to (and should have) added the part where Edmund sheds a tear, but who knows why it wasn't added? And then after Edmund is rescued, the added practicing bits were pretty good, especially the added sword-play between Edmund and Peter.
Now we get to my favorite part: the Battle. The added dogfight between the gryphons and harpies was awesome, the new shot replacing the old one of the gryphon swooping in to drop a stone was great, and the added shot of the rhino crashing into the minotaur and minoboar was NICE. Also, the new shots of some of the Witch's followers getting burned in the fire line and the big long shot of the Witch's army stopping their charge were great (Cutting out the burning shot was understandable, but not the long shot of the Witch's army). I thought the added Phoenix footage was all right. The CG image of Peter with a spear didn't look too great, but it worked, and his sword-play after throwing the spear was pretty cool.
Continuing the battle: The extended Oreius v. Otmin was great. At first I couldn't understand why Oreius throws his sword up in the air, but after watching it in slow motion I realized that Otmin was trying to grab it. That was pretty neat. And of course that, most unfortunately, ends the extra scenes and shots. In my opinion they should have shot a bit more of Peter v. the White Witch, but it's all right.
And now in closing: I know this has been long, but this is my overall view on the music re-looping. Knowing the soundtrack pretty much inside and out, I could always tell when when there would be an extra part added because I could hear the music suddenly jump back and repeat. At the beginning this didn't really go so well (regarding the soundtrack), but the White Witch's courtyard scene, the spring returning to Narnia scene, and the parts in the Battle were done really well and in at least one case hidden extremely well because of the sound effects. This is what really makes me wish that this extended editon was the theatrical edition, but some of the added CG shots might not have been completed at the time. Overall though, it was VERY enjoyable.

I totally agree with all areas that was stated by General Oreius except I didn't notice the soundtrack part (getting old I guess).

It was all the added features on the other discs that made it really enjoyable. True, I have only watched discs 1 and 2 so far, but it was fun watching disc 2 and I noticed there was a very small portion of the dance sequence in that showing Lucy dancing which was also very cool. I can't wait to watch the other two discs. I will probably watch at least part of disc three Saturday (tomorrow) sometime. Anyway, I'm am enjoying it completely.

Thanks, NM, and the soundtrack thing is totally fine. I'm boasting a bit here, but my parents are both music teachers, so we're immersed in music every single day, and that has made me pretty musical (& music-loving too). That's mainly what my love for the movie's soundtrack is based on, and, as a result, I listen to the soundtrack A LOT. That's probably the only reason why I was able to catch all of that. If I hadn't listened to the soundtrack so much I probably wouldn't have caught all of that, but oh well.

WAHOO!!! I got it a couple of days ago. And it`s REALLY awesome. :)
I love all the new deleted scenes. Do any of you have a fav? I`m not sure, but I love the scene with Edmund and Ginnarbrik. Very cool! :D

Okay, first, I have to point out how pretty and shiny the box is. I've covered it in thick plastic to keep all those ugly fingerprints off it.

Seriously, though. The packaging was pleasant enough, though the fold-out takes up a crazy huge amout of space. The first thing I looked through was the companion guide in the right flap. Nothing too special or essential, but a nice thing to have, so definitely worth it. Sorry to those who don't have it.

As for the first disc, I was pleasantly surprised with the extra footage -- they packed much more footage in than I had expected they would be able to in 15 minutes, (the running time on the extended edition is 150 minutes, 135 on the standard,) though most of it goes unnoticed until you've watched the theatrical version 30 plus times and practically memorized every single shot. (I jumped when I saw a certain camera angle in the "Meeting Tumnus" scene and realized it hadn't been there before.) I especially enjoyed the extra battle scenes. Not really disappointed there wasn't more; it was more than I expected anyways. Special effects can only go so far, the studio probably just wasn't able to finish in time.

On to disc two -- This is the part where I say: I TOLD YOU SO. I'm glad I saved some money waiting for the EE, but it's nothing that hasn't already been talked about to death on the forum, so it's old news and I'll just shut up.

Haven't gotten a chance to look into the rest of the DVD yet; will post more soon.
