Narnian Diet

Of course everyone ate meat in Narnia. Only, no one ate a Talking Beast, that is absolutely clear.
There was no "cannibalism", Land of NoD, because all talking animals that ate meat followed their own diet and ate their natural prey. Glimfeather the owl caught a bat and ate it flight. A bat is the owl's prey. Humans and dwarfs ate bacon, fish, deer meat, and many fowl.
Remember that none of the meat consumed was from talking animals as they were considered intelligent and equal with all others who had the ability to speak, including humans.
When the books talk about someone killing and animal for food, Lewis makes it a point to make it clear that it WAS NOT a talking animal.

by the way, I never read the books without having something good to eat nearby because almost every book describes a great meal in detail, including all the kinds of meat in it. I get pretty hungry just by reading it.

Did you read "The Magician's Nephew"? Aslan sung all of the animals into existance. He then touched His nose with ONE pair of each kind of animal He chose. The ones He touched noses with, He made Talking beasts. ALL of the other animals were dumb, and therefore fair game for chowing on. Of course, they multiplied and therefore filled the country with meat. No canibalism required. Also in LWW, FISH and chips were served by the Beavers the the Pevensies. Last time I checked, fish were meat. :D (please do not be offended by the previously and presently used sarcasm. No offense is intended. :))

I was referring to the book, LWW, it didn't explicitly show any "non-smart" animal because everyone Lucy and Co met in the book were smart.

there were also the mice (but not for eating, of course!), who up to that point were just regular mice--the ability to speak was not bestowed upon them until after they chewed away the ropes that bound aslan to the stone table.

It seems that if someone has read the book they're very aware of the fact that there were both the dumb beasts as well as the talking ones and that the Pevensies were not hunting the white stag to eat it but to get a wish. It's just more evidence for people who have only seen the movie....read the book! The books will always be better anyway.

they weren't hunting a white stag for meat, they were hunting ti cause if u catch it u get a wish, an they ate meat, cause not all the animals were talking ones, there were dumb beasts too.

That's what several people have said and it is true. I think I'm going to close this thread since the answers to the questions are obvious if anyone has read the book. My advice to others who don't understand: Read the Book! (They're better than the films anyway...I like the films but the books are way better)
