Is it just me, or does the book Phantom of the Opera have a lot in common with other French novels? (such as the Hunchback of Notredame)
heyyy your right!! lol

There were a lot of books published around that time that were very similar. It was sort of a craze that the France was going through and so many of the books of the time had an underlying theme of beauty loving the beast. Did you know that one of the original Beauty and the Beast stories was actually French and I do believe written around the same time.

It doesn't surprise me at all. Another story that comes to mind is the play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmund Rostand. lol It seems kind of sexist when you think about it. I mean, whoever heard of a story about "handsome man falling in love with beastly woman"?

I love the music from Phantom. It's completely unforgettable. (literally ;))

I am a long time fan of TPOTO, I have th normal one disc dvd and the two disc dvd :p
I have the movie companion, and the chapter book of the original story,
I love the actors they chose for the movie its great!

P.S. Wouldn't it have been totally awesome if Ewan McGregor was playing Raoul? At least I'd like to see it in an alternate version. He sings very well, and he can act too. (Of course I am a Star Wars freak, and he was good in Emma as well.

Haha I thought the same exact thing! It would be the best movie ever!!! Or even hugh jackman somewhere in there too...I wasnt to found of their Raoul. Much more of an Erik lover. :D
I am going to the play this year, I cant wait!! I hear its much better than the movie, and I'm so obsessed w/the movie its not even funny! haha! :D

Ha, ha, yes! Ewan McGregor fans unite! He would have looked a lot better in the role too. But, just for the sake of argument, was the guy who playd Raoul a real opera singer? Maybe they wanted thier other guy lead to be opera trained since Gerard Butler wasn't. He did well, I think he was a lot more fun to watch and listen to than Patrick/Raoul. But maybe they didn't want to take chances on two people who might not sound perfect on every song.
I think they're having the play in Cleveland this year, which isn't that far away from where I am. Maybe I'll get to go see it if it's not too expensive. Hopefully.

P.S. Like my new avatar people? :D

Me, too!

I love POTO, and watched practically nothing every waking moment from early last year until the end of summer. I loved the rooftop scene the most. :)
