They have concluded that although both Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley are essential to the continued success of the series, Orlando's character is human NyQuil and "not necessary" to maintain the gravy train (I could have told them that). Whether or not he will be killed in the third movie, due next summer, or be bumped off early in the fourth is not specified.

HA!! Orlando's Will Turner is not necessary? Why wouldn't Will be necessary to the story? He brings the very essence of a human soul torn between his father and the girl he loves... NOT necessary? I thought they were only rumours that surfaced a couple years ago... I heavily protest! :p

Man, where has Ryan Stewart been all these years? Do the words "fan girl" ring a bell? :D

Because only a few fangirls liked William, and as much as I am a fan of Keira Knightly, Elizabeth is not what I go to the movies for.
And since most people go to see Jack Sparrow, and quite a few for Hector Barbossa, and because it'd cost them several million to include Will and Liz, it would just be best to leave their story alone for a while. Besides, Orlando Bloom isn't that great of an actor anyway.

I really want there to be a 4th, but I just don't know about 'flying machines' and a 'Jules Verne' take. It just doesn't feel very pirate-y.

I agree with JoB. Most people do go to see Pirates because of Jack Sparrow or Hector Barbossa.

Why couldn't they show Jack searching for the Fountain of Youth? That seems interesting.

I went for Jack and Barbosa too, but Will was just a great character in the third movie!!
I know! What an insult... haha.. :D

I like Will the best in AWE, despite the fact he gets stabbed. He was... so wimpy in the first one. (Sorry)

He was such a man in AWE! However, I miss the good old WillaBeth days... when WillaBeth was the only option.
Definately:D

I'm with you... that was insulting to Orlando, lol. Sure, he isn't the best actor in the entire world, but still, to say he wasn't a big part of Pirates is flippin' crazy :(

I fixed the title of this thread. Obviously HB had never seen the movie!!!

here is what I think of this movie:

1. Worst of the three.
2. Relied too much on JD (cute as he is, he cannot carry the whole movie, and that's what they tried to make him do).
3. Felt like it was thrown together slapstick. They should have taken a year off and developed a really good script before they filmed this. Everyone seemed tired and overworked.
4. It left a bunch of loose ends which could easily have been made into a really nice story if they had taken the time to develop a real script:
- the death of Elizabeth's father ... that came out of nowhere and meant nothing. they could have made that really poignant and meaningful.
- the relationship of davy jones calypso. this could also have been 'ended' in a much better way, to tie up loose ends as it were; it came to nothing.

Clearly based on movies I and II, this team had the potential to make a really classic trilogy, and it just felt like in movie III they got in a big hurry just to churn out a blockbuster. It is too bad they did it that way.

I do think Will's character is essential to the stories. That would be just silly to have KN and JD back and leave out OB.

Just because the producers put all the emphasis on Jack doesn't mean there aren't any Will or Elizabeth fans, Thomas. Besides, where would Jack be without Will?

I don't know if there should be a fourth.... as much as I love POTC... I don't know..

Here's my advice for Steph:
Watch AWE. You'll find out that Captain Jack isn't selfish and self centered. In fact, he gives up what he wants for Will!

He's a really nice person when you get to know him.:p

Do you want to pay the 25 million each to have them back? I doubt it.

Anyway... sounds like a long time away :/ and I would rather keep everything ON THE GROUND. Flying machines? Blah!
