Potential early draft of script on internet

And one more nuance. The word "impossible". Somebody "bad" (Gumpas, maybe? Pug?) needs to say it in response to something that is being represented as the "truth". I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but that one word, too, has been a running motif in the last 2 movies. The first time it's said is in Susan's response to walking through the wardrobe the first time (they were already foreshadowing her fall then), and the second time was by the White Witch when the resurrected Aslan comes to the battle (thus linking Susan to the source of evil? more foreshadowing?). The third time is when Miraz sees Trumpkin for the first time (linking him to doubt? which CAN be a source of evil? too). See the theme? It's only said by the people who think (or eventually will think--ie Susan) that they have no reason to believe in the true Aslan, the true Narnia, etc. I've enjoyed seeing that one tiny bit in the films so far; I hope it's continued, or I will be quite sad.

Gumpas would be perfect. There are few really BAD characters in Voyage--compared to the others its really not as much a good vs. evil movie as it is an adventure filled from cover to cover with redemption and character development. :) But saying "impossible"--maybe about Caspian being the King of Narnia and returning--would fit PERFECTLY with Gumpas' character. Good idea! :D

It wasn't a fake, Disney confirmed that...but it was an early draft that has since been tossed out. Marcus and McFeely are writing the script again and this one was tossed before Stephen Knight was brought in to help...from the looks of it, the guys needed all the help they could get. Sorry, but that early draft was horrific to say the least.

Andrew is not on the writing team this time and he will only be producing and not directing. Michael Apted will be directing this time around. There will be changes from book to film, as sad as that is. I don't know what the end result will look like, I just hope that Stephen can make progress in keeping it closer to the book with much less in the way of liberties taken.

Well, Stephen IS Apted's writer. He wrote the script for Apted's Amazing Grace.

But I must say this:

KNIGHT IS A GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D :D

The script for AG was one of the most powerful screenplays ever written; it's a shame the movie was so underestimated by Hollywood. It, like the rest of the film, completely blew me away--it was incredibly symbolic and uplifting WITHOUT being overbearingly preachy, which is how the Narnia scripts should be and I think have been so far. None of it was awkward, not even the humor, and the characters were so fleshed out, for the most part, that I wanted to cry when *stuff* happened to them. AG was...well...AMAZING.

So I trust Knight :D

script

on the IMDB message boards.someone has witten down the beginning of the darft script they got of you tube apparantly.it mentions trumpkin in it but in the book he is looking after narnia for caspian.at least we know t has been thrown out.

Or we could worry about preventing and ending world hunger. I really never thought that this script was plausible as THE SCRIPT for the movie. Every scriptwriter has early versions that are thrown out. We need to remember that Douglas Gresham is a co-producer, so he's probably got a say over approving the script. I remember reading somewhere (maybe here on Narniafans) that in the beginning (LWW) he had to decline several scripts that did not fit Narnia at all (a.k.a., cheeseburger & milkshake for Edmund instead of Turkish Delight and the warm drink).

 Is that a joke, or did they really put in the cheeseburger?? AAAHH!

But I agree. It's not THE SCRIPT.

Nope. That is not a joke. Back in the early nineties when the film rights were with Paramount and the script for LWW was heavily modernized. It included not only Edmund being fofered as cheeseburger and milkshake, but the four Pevensies living in LA in the 1990's and going to stay with the Professor because of the earth quakes isntead of the Air Raids as at the time those working with the film ( save Mr. Gresham) thought that children wouldn't understand the Bliztkrieg or WWII and be truned of by a "history lesson" as it were .

Even if this script that was leaked is real, we have nothing to really worry about yet. The opperative word of this thread name is DRAFT. It's just that, a draft. Nothing set in stone.

I am so glad they didn't put the cheeseburger and milkshake in. And LWW in the 1990's??? Thank goodness that never got off the ground....

What they were planning wouldn't have been much better from what I could tell. Yes, we know, it's a draft...but a freaky one at that. The mere thought that they'd consider anything of the kind and waste anyones time and effort on such dribble doesn't help anyone's confidence in the writers.

Remember though, the early drafts of LWW. I'm sure in they're work, they have to consider all facets of the story. Different ways of showing it. I bet you anything they also have a script that's really close to the book. And they probably combine different drafts together. Take the best ideas from each one or something. That's all just a guess, though. What I'm really trying to say is there's nothing to worry about. :p :D
