Prince Caspian location in Ireland

I have heard from a very reliable source in L.A. that Caspian is almost for sure going to be shot in Ireland. How much I don't know.

Walden Media, said they are still thinking about making a permanent base in New Zealand, there not too sure yet.
I hope they do film here in NZ, but Ireland is incredibly appropriate, as its so close to England, and it shares some of the scenery types, and also C.S. Lewis also does deserve a visit.

I'd go for either location. New Zealand is known for its incredibly varied geography, but Ireland is beautiful for its rolling hills and greenery :D

Yeah, We don't have all that many rolling hills. We got lots of Mountains, but rolling hills are sort of lacking.

I thought Walden was leaning toward New Zealand, but they haven't decided. Maybe they'll do a bit of both... after all, I think some of LWW was filmed in the Czech Republic (mentioned in the commentary by Andrew), but that might've been scenes like the train or non-Narnian scenes.

But I am hoping it is New Zealand. I want to see some consistency in the films.

I think they should pay homage to C.S. Lewis and shoot it in Ireland. That's the least they can do.

What do you mean, the least they can do?

If I were CS Lewis I would want them to shoot it where it would look best.
That's what I would want.

The bits in the Czech Republic were the outside shots in the snow.

There's no news on WHERE it is being filmed. For all we know they might use both.

Some of the Snow scenes were done in the Czech Republic. Mainly this was when they were filming bits where it was just trees, and no actual scenery, but some of the outside of Mr Tumnus' house were done there, and the rest in a studio.

The Lantern Waste Scenery was done in a dug out sound Stage, which i think was in New Zealand (will have to check that one)

Half of the New Zealand bits were shot near Auckland, and the rest was shot near Christchurch (about 1 and a half hours away from it, but it was the nearest place of civilisation.)

Some of the Sweeping camera shots that showed Narnia from the sky, and also some of the "Green Screen" Backgrounds were shot in Prague.

Hope that helps.

Alex.

About Prince Caspian being filmed in Ireland, the only problem I can see with that would be the fact that Ireland has very few trees and in PC there are supposed to be huge expanses of forests. I think Ireland would work better for the islands in VoDT as it has islands and lots of coastal areas.

They will probably use other places, like New Zealand, for some of it, so they could use NZ for the trees, and Ireland for other bits

Kate12whisper13, actually in anohter thread about Walden Media in New Zealand, found an article on xtra.co.nz .. about the fact that Narnia is going to be filmed in New Zealand, but is being bumped because of another movie by Walden Media.
