Quote of the Day

my brother always covers his ears when aragorn starts to sing :p but it's very memorable, yeah...

Guard: I'm charged with guarding the portal to another world, and you're asking me to just let you through!
Dunstan: Yes. Because, let's be honest, it's a field. Look! Do you see another world out there? No, you see a field. Do you see anything non human? No. And you know why? Because it's a field! :p (Stardust)

"God had one son on earth without sin, but never one without suffering. "
--St. Augustine.

(Saruman, wow! I remember you as Curumo! Long time no see, I hope you're doing well :))

Prince Humperdinck: First things first, to the death.

Westley: No. To the pain.

Prince Humperdinck: I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase.

Westley: I'll explain and I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon.

Prince Humperdinck: That may be the first time in my life a man has dared insult me.

Westley: It won't be the last. To the pain means the first thing you will lose will be your feet below the ankles. Then your hands at the wrists. Next your nose.

Prince Humperdinck: And then my tongue I suppose, I killed you too quickly the last time. A mistake I don't mean to duplicate tonight.

Westley: I wasn't finished. The next thing you will lose will be your left eye followed by your right.

Prince Humperdinck: And then my ears, I understand let's get on with it.

Westley: WRONG. Your ears you keep and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God! What is that thing," will echo in your perfect ears. That is what to the pain means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.

Prince Humperdinck: I think your bluffing.

Westley: It's possible, Pig, I might be bluffing. It's conceivable, you miserable, vomitous mass, that I'm only lying here because I lack the strength to stand. But, then again... perhaps I have the strength after all.

Westley: DROP... YOUR... SWORD!

Good stuff, Bella-such a great movie! :)

and excellent verse, Miss Freckles!

I love jonathan edwards and I love this quote:

"The best and most perfect way of expressing a sweet concord of mind to each other is by music. When I would form in my mind a society in the highest degree happy I would think of them as expressing their love, their joy, and their inward concord, harmony, and spiritual beatuy of thier soul by sweetly singing to each other."
--Jonathan Edwards

That is so sweet!!!:)

Here's a good one from The Heart of Darkness.

"But his soul was mad. Being alone in the wilderness, it had looked within itself and, by heavens I tell you, it had gone mad." (p. 66)

That is a good one! :)

Who's the author again? It sounds very similar to something out of a Dostoyevsky novel (of course I know Dostoyevsky didnt write that though...)

It's by Joseph Conrad. I really didn't like the book overall, but some parts were very deep and could make you think for hours as to what it means. (That's what I loved most about the book--though it did get boring at times)
