Rangers of the Dancing Lawn III

Silvanus and his horse, Aurora, thundered into the backs of the orcs, throwing those closest to him into a mass of confusion. Not too far, now. There were only about two-score orcs there. He kicked out with his left foot, catching one of the vile creatures and sending it off balance, and stabbed another one in the throat. Almost there. Attacking the enemy from behind is one matter, trying to flank them with the fewer numbers is entirely another. Aurora galloped as fast as she could toward the band of Rangers, trampling over the bodies of her master's enemies.

Anais galloped next to Aurora as Sabriel nodded at Silvanus. "I think that is it for now," she told him.

"We should send out a search nonetheless," Silvanus replied.

"I will let Elindil know. We should abandon this place as soon as possible, lest we wake up in a blood field of Rangers like last time," Sabriel said.

ooc- tension is good....:D

ic- Fish angrily spat on the ground. When Sabriel was out of earshot, Fish turned back to Elindil. "At light o' day, Machia and I are leavin'. Arr...we'll uphold the alliance o' the pirates an' the rangers, an' if any o' yer rangers be wantin' to spread out, we'll take some o' em and head another clan elsewhere."

"Another clan?" Elindil asked, turning to Fish as the last of the orks where slaughted. "Why is this? What's wrong with the pirates? Are you deserting them?" Just as she was speaking an arrow flew threw the air straight at Machia.
Elindil shoved her out of the way, but the arrow got her through the shoulder.

ooc: I've changed my character's name to Eruedraith instead of Turin. Wanted something more original. :p

ic: Eruedraith watched the battle from the top of a hill. He had come just as the battle was dying down. He made his way down the hill, towards the rangers. He knew that after the battle there would be many wounded men and his healing ability would be greatly needed.

"Eruedraith!" One of the rangers called, "Over here, the captain is injured."

Sabriel came over panting while riding Anais as if she was the one doing all the running. "I just finished scouting the surrounding areas. I didn't catch anyone or anything nearby. But we should move as fast as we can. The enemy will expect their army to come back anytime soon. Once they found out they're missing they will sent out a search for this area!" she said.

She got off the horse and pretended to survey the area when in fact she was looking for Fish and Machia. "And of the pirates?" she asked Elindil. "What is to become of them? Will they travel with us?" she said as she placed her hand over her face as the setting sun shone right through the middle of the field and onto Sabriel's face.

"Arrrr... I suppose ye can jus' leave us here since yer so worried that we're goin' ter be difficult ter travel with...." Machia muttered... "Aye, we pirates make a habit o' yellin' and screamin' to the world: "HERE WE ARE ORCS!! COME AN' GET US!!!" while we're travelin'..." he added sarcastically... "I guess ye could always tie us up like before, attach us ter yer saddle bags an' let us hang thar like baggage... Not like we saved many of yer sorry necks durin' the battle or anythin'..."

The First Mate bent over Elindil and examined her wound... "Gar, this arrow's in pretty deep..." He grabbed Eliindil's knife out of it's sheath on her belt and cut the arrow shaft about halfway down... "Arrr, I'll give this a temporary bandage so ye can travel... Do we have any medical supplies here?" He asked Sabriel...

"Well the tent in which all the medical supplies were in has been destroyed. But I guess I should look through the ruins to see if there is at least a bag that remained untouch. By the grace of whoever looks over this land, I'm sure I could find something," she told Machia. Sabriel ran as fast as she could to the medical tent that was about 20 feet away from where Machia and Elindil were but not before tripping over a dead orc's hand. "Arg! Can some please remove this dead creature from my path! And why hasn't anyone started the fire? We need to get rid of these creaturew before the sun completely sets and before they start rotting!," she started yelling.

"Sabriel?" Machia yelled from afar.

"Yes, the Medicine supply!" Sabriel replied. She finally got to where the tent was supposed to be and to her amazement there was a bag untouched by the fire, arrows, and swords. She looked inside the bag and was happy to find it filled with bandages, herbs, needles, etc..

"Here you gou," she said as she threw Machia the bag. "This is the medical bag that every ranger is given when they leave the camp. It's been so bad the last couple of months that everytime we leave the area at least some one is to get killed and many more wounded," she said. She looked over to the setting sun and saw Fish coming towards them. "I think you will have no need of my presence right now, so I will go and finish gathering the orc and placing them in the fire," she said. When Fish finally came she raised and eyebrow and said, "Excuse me," while looking at Fish straight in the eye.

ooc-Poor Fish. Sabriel can't stand her:rolleyes:

There was an awkward silence. Fish reached for her sword again, but Elindil quickly stopped her. "Fish, I don't want to warn you again." Fish growled under her breath but obeyed Elindil.

Brushing shoulders with Fish, Sabriel walked away. Fish kneeled down and helped Machia wrap the bandage around Elindil's shoulder, then helped her stand up again.

"Arr...s'there somehwere ye can go, mate? A safe tent or somethin'?" Fish asked.

Elindil shook her head. "No, I'm afraid they were all trampled in the attack. But there's no time for that now, anyway. We need to clean this mess up and be on the move."

"More orks will be here before we know it." Elindil replied, "We have to break up, meet at the caves as soon as the work here is done."

Eruedraith examined the wound carefully. "You've lost quiet a bit of blood, but it still can be healed. You there! Boil some water, and mix these herbs into the water when it boils." He took some strange looking herbs out of his satchel and handed to one of the men in the tent. Eruedraith took out some cloths and laid it on the captain's wound.

ooc: I have no idea what I'm doing. :p

Elindil gritted her teeth in pain when Eruedraith touched the wound, "It hurts too much." She grumbled, "There's something wrong... Like it's got something in there still."

ooc: :p well it sounds good. hehehe! :p wanna make it poisoned? :D

Eruedraith removed the cloth and examined the wound again. "There does appear to be something." Using a strange plier-like tool, Eruedraith skillfully removed the arrow shard. "Sangwa," he whispered when he saw the arrow. He quickly took out some leaves from his satchel and placed them on the wound. As he placed the leaves onto the wound, he mumbled a spell, "Quanta yassen 'kshapsa."
Leaving the leaves on the wound, Eruedraith replaced the cloth onto the wound. "It will take several hours for the poison to be fully neutralized, when the water is finished boiling, I will wash the wound. In the meantime, you must rest." Eruedraith laid Elindil's head back down, and headed out of the tent to check on the water.

"But I can't rest!" Elindil called after him, sitting back up. "We've got to burn the orks...take the pirates somewhere and set up camp somewhere else!" She got hurriedly to her feet, holding her shoulder with her other hand.
