Science trivia

It's dangerous to the computer itself. In the absence of a surge protector, a lightning strike could cause a power spike harmful to the computer.

And a question: why is the term "chordate" more inclusive than "vertebrate"?

I should know this since my mom is a science teacher. I know vertebrate is animals with backbones. Chordate......I really do know this....I just can't think of it....Wild guess: Is it animals that have any type of support??? Unlike a jellyfish, octopus, etc.?? I'm probably completely wrong. lol

You're on the right track, Rachel dear. A chordate is an animal which has a spinal cord. A vertebrate is any chordate which has an interior skeleton of bone. The overwhelming majority of chordates are vertebrates, but the phylum that we and dogs and frogs belong to still is Phylum Chordata.

Infrared has a longer wavelength, and thus a LOWER frequency, than visible light. The lower frequency is WHY the prefix "infra" is used for it. All electromagnetic frequencies used for radio purposes are lower still, thus longer still in wavelength. The very lowest frequencies used in radio communications have such long waves that a proper antenna for them has to be thousands of feet long.

What are rickettsiae?

To certain animals infrared and ultraviolet are colours. We can photograph those images with cameras, but for humans to see them they must be misrepresented as visible colours. In actuality infrared and ultraviolet are distinct colours we have never experienced in this life but may come to see someday.
