Chapter 4
The Terror in the Sky
Felicity led me down the long hallway and past 4 doors on each side before she got to the one she wanted.
“This is my room.” She said opening the door. The room was painted in a pail sea green more lime than aqua though. There were two double beds both done in a green floral print, and the pillows were the exact color of the flowers in the bedspread. The floor was covered with a green shag carpet and the windows were delicately draped with gorgeous satin green curtains.
I was blown away by the luxuriousness of the room compared to the Great Hall.
Felicity grinned at seeing my awed face. “I had lot’s of help decorating it. Mostly Marsha helped me.”
“Say what?” I heard a voice call from across the hall.
Felicity turned around and met a girl at the door. She was tall and had mouse brown hair. It was shiny and wavy. She was pretty.
“Valley, this is Marsha.” Felicity said gesturing to the girl.
Marsha smiled and stuck out her hand. I didn’t recognize her from the Great Hall. My guess was that she had been sleeping.
I looked out the window in Felicity’s room and saw that the sun was just coming up over the skyline of London. The fog was still cloaking the sleeping city but was slowing dissipating in the coming dawn.
“Valley, do you have any clothes with you?” I heard Felicity ask.
I turned around and shook my head. All I had was a dull garb that the correctional home had given me. The faded gray jumper was beginning to scratch because of the wool it was made of. And the white top had shrunk so it felt as if I was just wearing my skin and then the jumper.
Marsha held up finger, “Wait just a sec,” she said before disappearing into the hall.
Felicity looked over at me, her mouth spread in a grin. She went over to a night stand and opened the draw. Pulling out a long tape measure, she came over to me and kneeled.
Marsha came back in just then with an armload of clothes. She piled them on one of the beds and chose the top skirt which so happened to be a long jeans skirt with and embroidered design on each pocket.
Felicity took my measurements and then Marsha handed her the skirt. She then held it up to me and it was only a few inches too long.
Felicity handed it to Marsha, “Emily?” Marsha asked.
Felicity nodded. “Only 2 inches off.”
Marsha saluted Felicity and said, “Your wish is my command!”
I laughed, “You’re funny!” I told her.
She turned around and loosely touched her finger to her forehead, “I try.” She said jokingly.
I laughed harder and Felicity joined me. “That’s Marsha for you.”
I looked out the window again and saw two specks circling in the sky. Lara and Carly. Winnie was probably too small to see from such great a distance. Out of no where, it seemed, came a larger more frightening form. It swooped down and started flying with Lara and Carly. It’s wings were far larger and I could distinctly see a body with legs and arms.
Felicity came over to stand beside me. “What is-” she began and then stopped short when she looked at where I pointed.
Her usually happy eyes filled with terror. She stepped back and flung the curtains shut then ran to slam the door shut. She then leaned against it and breathing heavily said in a panicked voice, “She’s back!”
