Smiling (and other calamities)

Which names do you prefer for the nameless Smilies?

  • Total voters
    21
  • Poll closed .
Or maybe we should get one unsuspecting person who has not voted and ask them in a PM what name they'd like Eeky/Phil to possess. Their answer could be the deciding vote.

Or we could call him Phil Eeky or Eeky Phil as a double name.

And, obviously, making another poll is also an option. ;)

Or maybe he was a healthy, happy, perfectly ordinary citizen named Phil until he underwent a severe shock, after which his perpetually horrified appearance caused him to be nicknamed "Eeky."

That's a good idea! :D I like that. It would make for all sorts of interesting Duffer legends!

That would indeed traumatize one. But do you think we could come up with some completely randomly new story? It would be more... random?

hmm... does waldo already have a story though?

I was always slightly confused by the double entry in the encyclopedia (look up smilies:rolleyes, and waldo). I'll try to sort out the waldo story, and then we could incorporate it if we still want to. I think I shall consult Freckles on this.

Okay. You might want to try Glen too, although she has a badly prejudiced opinion. :p

Glen is not prejudiced. Glen is biased. And what, you ask, is the difference between bias and prejudice? Prejudice occurs when one prejudges--for example, if I said "Smilies are nice, and eat cheese" before meeting Miraz. Bias occurs when one has an informed opinion on a topic. As in, "Waldo nearly killed me, when I had benevolently kidnapped him, and was singing to him in our Antarctican tent, and telling him stories, and warming cider for him, and letting him snuggle in 68/72 of the blankets in the tent." A reasonable and justifiable bias.

It's not nice to hold a grudge, dear Glenburnita. Perhaps we should put you and Waldo in a consoling session. After all, we can't have inmates who hate each other. :)
