Sonnets Here, In-House

For DestinyLies

A girl called Candi, or "DestinyLies,"
Loves popcorn just as much as M & M's.
I hear she went once to evangelize
Jamaica, in the company of friends.

I hear that she would like to meet the Poles--
Not North and South, but Slavic, I assume.
I've been there once, and gone inside the walls
Of Malbork Castle, which has lots of room.

I'll say this, girl: in Poland you will find
Enough cool sights for banners ten or more,
If Putin can't achieve what's on his mind--
Enslaving Eastern Europe as before.

You have incentive to pray faithfully,
So you can tour a Poland that is free.
awwww thanks Joseph! :D The end I don't even get...though.

Wow, I casually dropped in just out of curiosity, intending to read a few pages...and spent a very long time reading a almost the whole thread! You have spent an incredibly impressive amount of time and expended a lot of effort on these! I imagine you must think in iambic pentameter at this point, hmm? :) So yes, wow!

Lady of Lorien: Yes, I can almost say that I do think in iambic pentameter.

DestinyLies: The latter part of my sonnet for you arose from my knowledge of the fact that Vladimir Putin, who still is the real ruler of Russia, is an openly-stated admirer of Stalin, and wishes very much to pull all the former Soviet Union's enslaved nations back into "satellite" status. If he succeeds, preaching the gospel, or even being a mere tourist, will become harder in countries like Poland.

Ohhhhhhh OK! THanks! :D where did you hear about me and Poland??? I love Sweden too! haha. Ask Truman. :p

I loved the sonnet you wrote for me.

One of the reasons why I write these poems is so that brand-new members who read the thread will find out what some of their new "neighbors" are like. All the more cause for me to seek out information about individuals. In your case, DestinyLies (as in some other cases), I used the "Find All Posts" function in your profile to find subjects you had discussed.

That's what I though. :D

aww, a very nice sonnet for dear Candi :)

For CFSgirl...
...in the forlorn wish that I could do more.

Dear Sarah, you required about one day
To win my "Glove" (G-rated love, I mean).
How I wish now that I could intervene,
And make your chronic ailments go away!

At least I can avoid being, myself,
The cause of bringing you still more travail,
Browbeating you to follow each detail
Of my own doctrines as regards your health.

For as a widower, I've learned one thing:
That while God often heals, discretion still
Belongs to Him; we can't command His will.
We have to mean it when we call Him King.

But I embrace you, Sarah, in my mind,
And pray that you can still see God as kind.
