Now I'm wondering how you dye the hair of a doll dark brown......

I'm assuming these dolls are still blondes.

It should be simple to get the length right though, considering in the movie it was just a rough cut at roughly the height of the jaw.

Mind you, in the movie, it seems they sculpted a complete new hairstyle for her after the change.
If it was a real life movie, they'd have stopped filming, Rapunzel would have been sent to a hairdresser, had her new hairdo done up and then gone back to Flynn in order to finish the scene.

I assuming this was an aesthetic consideration, the style of the blonde hair wouldn't have suited her new "short look" and she has to remain visually appealing for the short time she's in the remainder of the rest of the film.

I get that the "blonde version" is the iconic film motif, but when we get to the end of the movie and she's different, you'd think they'd allow for that in the merchandise line, in case someone wanted the final version!

By the way, I prefer the brunette version, she's cuter.
A shame the movie is pretty much over at that point and I don't get to see how her face expressions we see throughout the movie would play out with that new style.

Oh well, if (and that's probably a big IF!) there's a sequel, I have something to look forward to.

Disney announced a Tangled Short, that starts production this year. As far as a sequel, WDAS is very cautious about what films they do sequels to. The only films to get canonical sequels by WDAS ( rather than the Direct to video cheapquel done by Walt Disney Television Animation and Disneytoon Studios) are:
Fantasia (Fantasia 2000)
The Rescuers (The Rescuers Down Under)
Sudos Amegos (The Three Calebreroes)
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Winnie the Pooh (2011) )

Flynn's voice actor said we'd get a Tangled TV show before a sequel. I'd rather stay with the theatrical shorts and possibly a TV show, there is no grounds for a sequel other than $$$. I'd rather WDAS keep their current way of original stories, than having II,III, and IV of the last 46 films.

I dissagree, there tis potential for a sequel. It just requires great minds to craft it. Pixar hast done numerious sequels and they are major hits. Toy Story stands chief among them. If Pixar can do it, Disney can. :)

but what would the story be? The original fairytale only speaks of the wedding and the twins. that's pretty slim things to base a sequel on. Plus WDAS is one of the few studios trying more original stories compared to sequels (with the exception of Pooh). I'd like to see the ideas first, because I really think Tangled should stay a stand along story.

I personally think Tangled would be better off without a sequel. It's like the first Pirates of the Caribbean; it was made to stand alone, not create a franchise created merely for the sake of profit.

I enjoy both Rapunzel's brunette and blonde, because blonde is how she was in the original story written by the Brother's Grimm, but I also agree that in Tangled the brunette Rapunzel is way cuter.

I'm not sure comparing Disney and Pixar is a good thing.....

Basically, Pixar take a lot of care over their sequels, really work hard on it to make sure it's quality.
Fun fact: Toy Story 2 was originally going to be a direct2video release, but it was so good, they made some changes and it went to cinemas instead.

Disney don't seem to take that level of work to their movie sequels, which is why they're always somewhat lackluster as compared to the originals.

I agree. I can't imagine what Tangled 2 would be about? Glodel returns? The Second Magic Flower? Does Rapunzel's baby inherit the flower power and gets kidnapped by Glodel's long-lost descendant?

That's because Most Disney Sequels aren't Done by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The Only Sequels that are Offical in the DAC (Disney Animated Cannon) are as follows:
The Three Calebraros(sp?), The Rescuers Down Under, Fantasia 2000, and Winnie the Pooh (2011)
Everything else was done by two different studios: Walt Disney Television Animation and DisneyToon Studios
You have to understand when the sequel business started it was at first TV movies for upcoming series/ or series finales(the Aladdin sequels), or aborted tv series chopped together (Belle's Magical World, Cinderella II). After that it was DisneyToon that did everything else. Naturally this caused Brand damage and in 2007 when John Lasseter took over WDAS, he had DisneyToon Studios stop the sequels.
Only 2 sequels were worth any trouble any way, Bambi 2, and Cinderella 3 both were well written and respectful of the originals.
Don't worry about a Tangled sequel, the only thing that has been planned is the short Cartoon next year, where Flynn and Rapunzel get married. WDAS doesn't have slots open for the next 6-7 years, for another feature film.

I totally agree. The first POTC was, and still is the best. I didn't care much for the second one. The third and fourth POTC movies weren't bad, but it is becoming a little too much! They tried making sequels to The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Mulan etc...But they just weren't as good as the originals.

And don't forget Narnia....
(I'm going to be sorry I brought that up, aren't I?:p Oh well, the thread is kinda getting a little off topic anyway....)

It's ok lol. I just wish that they would've remained more true to the books, like the BBC versions did for their adaptations of LWW, PC,VDT and SC.

If only. LWW was good but the rest, eh, not so good. lol, I've actually only seen the LWW BBC version, though I've been meaning to watch the others.

Well that was off-topic. xD Oh well, threads wouldn't be TDL threads if they didn't go off topic for a few posts now and then, would they?:D:p

I saw the first 5 or so minutes of the BBC LWW, and I have to say, I can't see where it's any closer than the Disney version. Plus, I couldn't keep from laughing and being extremely turned off by the cheesiness.

I realized in a note I had posted on Facebook, that it had a quote from Tangled. :D
