The Avengers (2012)

Some actors really get around, and are not confined to one type of role. Stellan Skarsgard (sp?), the actor who played Loki's enslaved physicist, has previously portrayed two villains, who were different from each other as well as different from his new victim-role. In the 2004 "King Arthur," he was the evil Saxon king; before that, he was the cold-hearted Russian attack-submarine captain in "The Hunt For Red October."

Skarsgaard also portrayed Bootstrap Bill Turner (Will's father) in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)

Returning to the subject of the stunning Agent Hill: it seemed to me that she was being portrayed as having a strong non-sexual devotion to Nick Fury, the same way as Trinity felt toward Morpheus in the "Matrix" movies.

I liked Agent Hill; I'm hoping that since *spoiler* agent Coulson died, she'll kind of take his place in future films.

So, I had actually been curious about something in the Avengers movie, namely what was Shawarma ( I screamed it in the thread on something you want to yell to the world.) Just before apprehending Loki Tony says to Cap and Thor that he wants to go and get some shawarma and that they all should go and get some too.

It turns out "Shawarma" is called "Gyros" ( pronounced "heroes") in Greece. SPOILERS So you have Heroes eating Gyros in the post-post credit scene ( at least in American markets) END SPOILERS

Haha, nice. I watched something...can't remember where, where a person said, "I had to look up 'shawarma' after the movie; thank you Tony Stark." I thought that it might have been some sort of alcoholic drink.

Now if I go to see it again, I'm staying until they kick me out of the theater! ;)

The way I found out about Shawarma was by talking with another guy who saw the movie when I did; he was familiar with that food.

I loved it that they reproduced SHIELD's hovering mobile headquarters from the comics.

One more time about my new celebrity crush: I don't think it was any accident that, near the end of the film, we male viewers were treated to a lingering full-length view of Agent Hill as she walked away from the camera. Count on it, they plan to have her in the next movie.

That was from the comics? Wow, that's awesome! I thought that was one of the best CGI works of the movie! It wasn't necessary but made the movie SO much better!

HAHAHA Yah that was interesting.. My sister came home and was totally ticked off about it :p

Well, of course. After all, females are SO much more spiritual and mature than we are. You would NEVER catch any of THEM having celebrity crushes on Iron Man, Captain America or Thor, uh-uh, no way....

I know, my sister was DROOLING over Captain America, and I'm like, Black Widow is SO awesome! And she just GLARES at me

You do have to realize: traditionally, women were viewed and used as items, not people. I know it's 2012, but I still think women have a default attitude about it when guys drool over good looking women. It's not quite the same for women for some reason, maybe because men have never been used as cattle like women used to be. Just tell your sister that all's fair in love and war. ;)

Actually, a majority of all men who ever lived in the world throughout history, HAVE been treated as cattle. (Hence Loki's declared attitude.) It's just that they were mostly being treated this way BY OTHER MEN -- though now and then a female ruler had the chance to get into the act, as witness Russia's Catherine the Great and Egypt's Hatschepsut.

Oh, I wasn't at all denying that men were used in this instance (we all know that there were male slaves in history), but my point is that women are typically thought of as being the biggest percentage of victims.

And this is way off topic when I didn't intend for it to be...haha. I'm putting up an "I Assembled" Avengers cover photo for my Facebook profile; the one that the official Avengers FB page has been promoting today. ;) It's really cool. :D

*looks back at talk of people drooling over Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America*

... I was drooling over Loki? Is that a problem? :P (I love my villain characters. Especially the tragic sort.)

Anyways, the movie was fan-freaking-tastic. And I LOVED Black Widow as a character because she was awesome and didn't need any powers to be awesome and I hope she gets her own movie.

Awesome acting on everyone's part too.

Haha, Loki kind of grows on you, and I felt sorry for him a few times...then I remembered his evil smile when jamming that thing into that guy's face and I lost all my sympathy. :p

EDIT: Avengers 2 has been given the official greenlight! http://www.thewrap.com/movies/article/avengers-sequel-officially-39016
