It must always be remembered that Aslan is not a metaphor. Mister Lewis made it absolutely clear that he was imagining THE ACTUAL CHRIST assuming the form of Aslan for His actions in the Narnian universe. Thus, His death on the Stone Table was an extension of, not merely a parallel to, His death as Jesus on the Cross.

Well said Copper fox. I always wonder if Susan was not a picture of someone who could lose they're salvation as she was always the straight laced, voice of reason who would then seemingly fall from grace. Juxtaposed to Edmund who started off as almost a Judas character and ended up the greatest King of Western Narnia. I always thought there was some theological/biblical lesson there. That and of course the nature of evil Lewis presented in those books is certainly not unlike the description in the Scriptures.
Amen!!! The central theme to Narnia stories is the death and resurrection of Aslan (Jesus Christ in our world) paying the price for sin, and resurrecting new life in those who will receive the gift of salvation because of it.
