The good old days of TDL for the oldies and newbies

I'll have been here three years in June. I don't remember a time when HB was here consistently. I have seen a lot of changes and a lot of members pass into oblivion in this time. Oh, the talks Vanessa and I would have! They were real riots. :D And I remember NarnianPrincess (Alaina), LBT, Truman, DaydreamBeliever, and many others. I remember such old mods as WHB, Pratterdaughter, OMS the Obsolete, IOWW the Fishy, Ephinie (and her non-mod husband, Admiral Halsey), Inkling, and ITW. I also remember this thing called "Mod Talk" but only vaguely. ;)

I've got to stop now or I'll get too nostalgic for my own good. :p
 
Poor Inkling. The last mafia game she led was the last I played...it was the game that never ended, because she "faded away" toward the end.

There are certain people I would like to drag back here...the 2nd generation of Duffers, in particular. I started Duffering just as they started fading, unfortunately.
 
I would like to drag first generation Duffers back here. I came in at the end of the Golden Age. I remember the old RPGs. The rivalry between the Can and the Duct Tape. Ben's Bridge. Th Order of the Duck Tape was my first Duffer Thread, I ended up so far away from that Order at the end. Popcorn Monsters from the Senior Member Lounge. Trying to drive Shadow Hawk out of threads that he was just in to spam, the Quack Wars. the Clone Machine. I miss the original Food Fight thread. I miss people like Abby, Ben the Lion, Arien, Tessa, Elf, fantasy fan, fishie, ShadowHawk, ILIKEPILLOWS, ILSE, Julie, Isabell, Jack of Blades, keybladewarrior, Jadee, WHB, the list goes on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on on and on and on

I remember the days of the "10Thingy" and I remember mods older than any of those you mentioned. Way older. Only two of them are still alive, and one of them always thinks it's February 30th.

Back then the official dance of The Dancing Lawn was the Charleston. That was back before the Crash of 29. Later it became the Jitterbug.

Ah those were the days lads and lassies. I'd put on my new bowler and folk would say "Land sakes, dig the badgy's new sky!" 23-Skidoo, and all that.

yup... and the generation after them were wonderful as well... also... missing...
 
I remember the days of HB being HB666. I remember disapproving of his name, and since then I've called him Hollyboy in my mind, or simply HB... :rolleyes: I remember when he name went from blue to purple. I remember several constructions the site underwent. I remember the second generation duffers. I remember RF and the wonderful CW thread, where we fought constantly over CW. I remember the 100,000 post thread. My life had no meaning when it died. :( I remember when Freckles wasn't a duffer... I remember the rpgs, which I enjoyed reading, but never joined. I do miss the knights and pirates. *sigh* I remember making my 100th post, and I was a senior member! I remember the roadtrips, and debating who would drive. I even recall the thread dedicated to the torment of Olorin. :D I remember Ben, who called me Lossy, and I threatened him with death. I remember when LoL went to collEge. I remember Oly hosting mafia games, and gloating over his omniscience. I remember Thegirls. I remember being made a member of the Order of the Can. I remember talking to walls, and doorknobs, and corners of the Insane Asylum. (I wonder if I can remember the code?) I remember Freckles creating the IA thread. I remember the massive reconstruction in which old duffer threads were moved to Cair Paravel, and worrying about how many we would lose for lack of the "do not delete" sticker...

I remember Glen joining, and thinking she was a guy.:rolleyes: I remember Mewsie, and Rach and Kitty, and D and C... ♥

I remember when Lava was ~J Ava~ (sp?). And when Slippers becoming Slippers.

I remember too many late nights wandering the halls of Cair Paravel...

Oh, yes...and Copperfox writing a sonnet for me, assuming that I was a guy, and that my roommate wanted to set me up on a date with a girl. I laughed my head off, and privately PM'd him to explain the truth, while my roommate fretted about my internet safety. And then the thread where people (other than CF, who already knew) tried to figure out what what I was. Peepiceek finally said that they should just stick to calling me a guy, whatever I said when I came clean. That would have been awkward, so I confessed. I had assumed everyone would figure it from my username, but evidently not....

And the period when people were actually posting in the Corrupt a Wish thread. *glares pointedly*

And when Peepiceek named the cliff "Cliff," and Freckles sang "o lossy-tree" for the first time....

I remember that I, too, was mistaken about your gender, but you set me straight within about the first week of our interacting.
 
Do you remember when Lava was LadyJean or breethew or even bthew? Did you know that it was during a Mafia Game that I became Lava and Slippers became Slippers?
 
No, I never played the mafia games back then, sadly. I remember you explaining that LJ was LadyJean, though I'm not sure I recall the actual days, and I do not remember breethew...
 
Unfortunately, I wasn't on before you became Lava, I don't think. I barely caught the tail end of the 2nd generation, and you're more like a dinosaur. Or something.

You were here during those days, in fact you joined only a month after I did. I turned breethew either after you joined or only slightly before you joined. LadyJean was after that.

One of my fondest memories is the Road Trip Through Middle Earth thread, which was the first place I frequently posted in Dufferland.

I remember red mods, people rushing to post to improve their status (since technically obsolete) and fights over people using huge siggies and motion gifs that slowed the site way down.

I remember that! I also remember the few times my siggy was to big getting mod pms about it... despite the fact that like everyone else seemed to get away with it... lol and then i became one of those die-hard rule followers...
