You must PM if you want to join. Do not just make up a character and start posting without getting the go ahead. If you want to be a Knight of The Round Table, remember they all had lots to do and quests and battles. So as a Knight you will be really busy

This RP is about the Legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
The RP will begin with King Arthur being around 10 and living with his foster father, Sir Ector and his foster brother Kay (Sir Kay of course becomes one of the most loyal Knights later on). The reason why it will start with Arthur being a kid is because we want to go through the moment when he pulls the sword from the anvil or stone, whatever you think the legend say it is, and becomes king. We probably won't spend much time here because we want the grown up characters to appear asap.

If you want to join and don’t know the Legend of King Arthur, please research it and then come join. You can only join if you PM me telling me what character you want to be. If you want to learn the basics of King Arthur’s Legend, go to the following link and see if there is another character you would like to be and how it will fit with the main storyline.

Here are a few rules to keep it family friendly.

-Read all the posts since you last posted.
-No one kills another player’s character without permission.
-No extramarital affairs or any other sensual innuendo.
-Innocent romance it’s ok but I will not put up with players making up boyfriends and playing their main character and their boyfriends in endless syrupy conversations.
-No making up characters that are not Arthurian, so don’t make up a great amazon warrior that it’s infinitely more powerful than all the knights combined because she doesn’t exist in the legend.
-No saying that you character is “better” than the others. Your character of course can have different abilities.
-Try to write in the voice of the period, use words like Lady, Sir, Gentleman, My Lord, My Lady, Sire. Try not to use contractions i.e. “we’re,” “ you’re,” “he’s .” Say "we are," "you are," "he is," as much as possible. And definitely do not say things like: “what’cha doing” or “love ya”

Mostly we will unite to battle the Saxons and others who invade Britannia. We can also have jousting tournaments with other tribes or among ourselves. The RP will features Hadrian's Wall as one of the main defensive feature in our battles against the Saxons. If the RP gets popular, we can add other plots to the storyline as long as they are consistent with the Legend.

When we get enough players make a good start we’ll go.

Just so everyone knows. I've had FOUR people ask to play Morgan La Fay. I have asked for a statement on what they know about Morgan and how they will play her to see if it fits with the storyline. I will then make a decision.

As many may know, the story of King Arthur has many different versions by now. This one must be family friendly to conform to the forum rules.

As soon as I get a PM from a couple of people I invited to the RP, we'll get started.

lol the Mists of Avalon and Tennyson's versions are clearly out then...well maybe Tennyson's could stay....lol you cant understand his inuendoes anyways lol

"Mists of Avalon" is WAY, WAY out of consideration in any roleplay which assumes the existence of the Biblical God.

lol and the whole....Morgan + Arthur thing....creeped me out! plus they made Guinever out to be a ditz and a, well...not-so-nice-girl if you know what i mean. On a scale from 1 to 10 its a 4 for me.

Yes please, nothing that is not family friendly. So there will be nothing explicit or implied, no black magic or witchcraft or anything that cannot be classified as rated "G".

Double post just to let you know that we will be starting Tuesday Night. We don't have all the characters but we need to get started anyway.
I won't come online during the day, but I will be here around 5-6 pm California time.

For now, I will also play Sir Ector, Arthur's foster father.

OOC: Well, since we'll start when Arthur is a kid for a while, we may not need Sir Gawain just yet (but I won't spend much time here, we will jump to grown up asap). But that's cool, thanks for offering. OK, here we go.

IC:
Arthur was excited that his older brother Kay will soon be in the tournament in London. He was happy because this will give him a chance to start his training to become a squire. Arthur wanted nothing more than to become a squire, maybe serve a Knight in the court of King John. Maybe later the Knight could take up the Cross which meant Arthur will also take up the Cross and go drive the Saracens out of the Holy Land.

"Hey, I can dream, can't I?"

In from the forest came William Twyti, a free Welsh-born huntsman who frequently worked for Sir Ector. With several of Ector's own men who had been placed under his orders for the hunting, Twyti was bringing in a boar, two stags and several wild geese to supply meat for the castle's occupants.

Once in the courtyard, the menservants needed no supervision to skin, gut and butcher the carcasses. William Twyti, his longbow now unstrung and the hounds attended to, went to tell Sir Ector what meat they had taken.

Arthur saw William and his party arrived. He saw that William's hunt had been a success. Arthur of coursed wished he had gone with them and test his archery skills but he had to prepare for the journey with his father Sir Ector and his brother Kay.
Arthur saw William coming and looking for his father.

"I can see you had great success"

(OOC: How is Arthur going to address William? Sir? Mr.?

MASTER Twyti gave the lad a friendly nod. "What we brought should feed everyone in the whole castle, as far as meat is concerned, for a week or more. So tell me, young Arthur, how are you faring with reading? I hope for the day when you shall be able to teach ME some of that."

(ooc: LOL I forgot about Master, which is how I prefer that Arcturus (in Elements) be addressed)

"Master Twyti, at lest you are interested in reading. Besides Oliver the priest and Sir Ector, most other grown ups think reading leads a lad nowhere. 'Don't waste you time with reading, Arthur,' they say, "practice your yard skills, we need men who know how to fight, not how to read'. But of course I could teach you what I know Master Twyti."

"At any suitable time, lad, that would be a blessing. As for it being useful: I served in a temporary company of footsoldiers once, back in Wales, when Irish pirates were raiding inland. Had we but had the knowledge of writing among us, who knows but we could have passed information better, and been more effective? It seems to me that if I can profit by reading the sign of animals passing by, I might also profit by reading the sign of men thinking." He gave Arthur a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Just now, though, where is the lord of the castle?"

Sir Ector approached Arthur and William Twyti

"I am most grateful for the meat, Master Twyti, most grateful."

Turning to Arthur

"Arthur, could you make sure all the preparations are made for our trip?"

"Yes, Sir."

"Well, Master Twyti, how long did it take you to get those?" Sir Ector points at the animals being brought in.

"The boar was quickest slain, my lord," replied the huntsman. "HE came after US. Your hounds did their part well indeed, but would have suffered harm if your spearmen had been laggards; 'twas a fierce tusker, that one. But the kill went well. We cached the boar in a tree until we could return for it; that was why I wanted those ropes, for just such an eventuality. The first of the stags we took some two hours after the boar, and the second stag three hours after the first. In between, I shot the geese as opportunity offered itself.

"But another matter there is, my lord. I saw more wolf tracks out in the woods than I am accustomed to see this near to villages or castles. I know not if it portends any great change in conditions, but I advise you and your vassals to take care for the children and livestock. The wolves might do some hunting of their own."

"Thank you for your concern Master Twyti. For sure I will have the everyone at the manor look out for it. The servants will have their weapons ready at all times."

Sir Ector pauses and appears to be thinking, then addresses William a second time.

"But my sons and I must ride to London soon, Master Twyti, and I need to leave the security of the manor in capable hands. Do you think you could handle that or know someone who can?"

Morgan's story: Avalon

My mother sent me away when I was young. She said she loved me, but with her new husband, Uther, she couldn't have me around. I believe that he hated me. One of his men had said I was a "possessed" child. Clearly he had never seen a girl with one green eye and one violet. I often got that response.

I was sent to Avalon where I would be raised by my aunt Morgause, the high priestess. I grew up wallowing in the ways of Avalon. The old Druid ways. My aunt had said when I asked her if I was unateral, "Of course you are! You are a gift from the Great Goddess. She doesn't give out gifts often, and when she does of course human kind will hate it! Love the hate Morgan, amd you'll see the gift that you really are.

(ooc more to come and heres a pic of Morgan

(ANSWERING ECTOR)

"Well, my lord, you know that I fought the Irish pirates in my day. I doubt that any knights will wish to stay away from the great gathering, but I can keep an eye on things. As long as the servants you leave behind work with me, and advise me on castle business, I think all should fare calmly. Will Father Oliver tarry here, in case anything arises which calls for reading and writing?"

(And no matter what Viviane thinks, there IS NO Goddess...only the demon which deceives souls like Viviane.)
