The movie Avatar from a Chrsitian perspective, good bad what? discuss!!!

I thought they were using that imagery to make the U.S. military look as if it was like the Somali or Nigerian death squads, which it's not, so that's why I was so upset about it

James Cameron has a brother who is himself a marine,. which is why I think it's unlikely that, that was the message at all.
 
Well, whatever he meant by the movie, I just think the political undertones detracted from the actual story. If he'd spent more time fleshing out the relationship b/t Neytiri and Jake or just any of the characters in general, I would've liked it more. I think he spent too much time on the political elements and didn't do enough to develop the characters--to me, they fell kind of flat (except for Grace, but well, of course the best character never gets a good ending). I just didn't FEEL anything for the 2 main protagonists. Like with Jack and Rose in Titanic, they just annoyed me to no end and by the end of the film, I could have cared less about what happened to them. It's really hard to like a movie when you can't even bring yourself to like the characters :/
