Chapter One
It was cold. Bill stepped out of the black Hummer in his dark black glasses to see a group of awaiting fans beginning to make their way to him. He looked back to see his twin, Tom, following him. As Bill exhaled, he could see his breath being trailed by steam. It would be a long night.
Turning back around, Bill went to a girl in a wheelchair and took her notepad and pen from her hands. He signed his name, and beside it, he wrote a little note, "get well soon". He then got up and went to the next girl. The girl in the wheelchair stared at him and then slowly began crying.
This continued for awhile, until eventually the boys were called inside for registration into the hotel. The girl in the wheelchair followed them. Bill looked behind him, sensing the eyes on the back of his head. She turned her head as his eyes looked into hers. Then a bodyguard took her aside and kept her there.
When the boys were inside the room, Tom went straight to the refridgerator, Gustav went to a corner and turned on his remote-controlled car, and Georg lazily watched TV. Bill's thoughts were on the girl. She looked around 15, maybe 16. And she was so fond of him, too. He shook the thoughts out of his head. He had more things to think about.
Tom's phone rang, cutting the quiet. "Sorry, guy s."
"Who is it?" Georg asked.
"No one!" Tom snapped, and went on the balcony, where he stood for awhile. Bill guessed it was his ex-girlfriend Monica. When Tom came back, his face red from the cold, Bill went up to him.
"Was Monica calling again?" he asked.
"N-well, yeah," Tom said, quieting his voice. "I don't want Georg or Gustav to know about her... "
"They know about everything, Tom, you can't get away with it."
"Yes, but..." Tom's voice was now a whisper. "She's demanding I get back with her, otherwise she's going to commit suicide!"
Bill looked at him in shock. "Let's go into the hall."
In the hallway, Tom looked flustered by his ex's call. "I can't believe she's threatening herself for my love!"
"Tom, do you still love Monica?"
"No! You know I broke up with her because she was using my money and..."
"I know, but do you love her?" Bill demanded.
"No."
"Do you want to cause her harm?"
"Well, no..."
Tom's voice trailed off. Bill knew that Tom's heart was all for TokioHotel, but that Monica had left a real good mark in his heart as well. Tom looked at his twin and then went back inside the room. Bill followed him.
The next morning, everyone woke up to snow, and cold weather. Bill woke up sweaty, remembering the strange dream he had had. It had included the wheelchaired girl, who had been going down a never-ending tunnel, and he was running after her...
Tom woke up, then Gustav. Georg snored as he slept in late. Bill got dressed and went to the bathroom to gel his hair. Tom stood in front of his suitcase, trying to decide what cap and head sock he would wear that day. When everyone had finally gotten ready, they headed over to one of Milan's concert halls and did a sound check. Bill began to worry.
"What's wrong? First you're sweaty, now you're worrying before the 30-minute beginning-of-show breakdown!" Tom laughed.
"I don't know..." Bill thought again of the wheelchaired girl. He hoped she wouldn't come to the concert.
He was wrong. At the concert, she had a special spot: right where he could see her, near the doctor's corner, where he looked over to sometimes to see his fans yelling his name from their dehydrated positions. After the concert, she was a VIP member, and he went up to her again. She spoke to him this time.
"Bill...hello," her voice was as clear as water, her eyes like two pools of blue wonder.
"Hello," he replied. "What is your name?"
"Monica." she said.
