Thread for the Fine Arts of painting, sculpture, and other interesting mediums!

finished my suncatchers

i finished my suncatchers and they turned out beautifuly, made some differnt colors by mixing the glass stain and painting them, i also want to work with clay again i like clay, i saw self hardening clay at the craft and fabric store

I like the arts, but I'm not creative. At ALL. So although I grew up being the "art nerd" I'm not prone to getting those shakespear inspirational moments too often. In art class, we were asked to have 10 sketches (compositions) by the end of each term. and I used to do them well, and all of them were my IDEAs, but not mine. And at other times I'd just completely jack a picture that I thought would make a nice drawing, and of course all those times I made sure that the source was the first thing they knew about, and the inspirations.
for WEDNESDAY...And I'm clearly asleep these days because it's just been confirmed to me, I have to make a cubistic drawing. and I have no ideas what to do. I initially wanted to do a stage, giving it a look as if it had a picture of trees blended on it, but I don't think I have tie for that. I dont really blame myself entirely for this, because this is ridiculously soon, and I don't procrastinate halkf as much as last year.. So now i'm browsing http://weheartit.com for inspirations...""

edit: Found my source of inspiration. I'm going to make the bird a blue and define the background color to an orange-y type. And of course, the main cubist feature, the birds head will be turned toward us..wait...birds can't turn their heads right :S

hopefully yes...and then make it more shape-y...

i would say about 20 mintutes it all depends

i would say about 20 mintues or so it all depends on how much glass stain i have to use to fill in the suncatcher and paint it sometimes i do one after the other so they can dry at the same time, for Christmas this year i'm going to start makeing wooden orataments

Umbrella and Shortangel, thank you both for giving us glimpses into the experience of DOING art--which is just as valid here as giving examples of completed works.

I like art. I took art courses in college and I would like to create some works of my own. The problem is that I have the creative talent of steamed broccoli!!!
So when I see nice art, I always appreciate it because I know what it takes to create it.

Well, if you took that broccoli, and other organic substances, and sculpted something horribly obscene and childishly blasphemous, the stuck-up airheads in the posh salons of Manhattan would adore you as "daring" and "innovative."

Not exactly "fine" art but this is one of my rough sketch. It's supposed to be....Cubistic... That's what it has to be cuz we learned about that.

i couldn't make it look any more cubist without ruining it completely.

and this one is just an idea.

i made some ortaments with glitter paint on them

i didn't get a chance to post this but i made some orataments with glitter paint on them, here's what i made

2 crosses

2 nativity scenes

2 candycanes

notatamelion do you sew? I would love to see some of that and I'm sure others would not mind either=D

Yes, I sew, or at least I'm starting to. I've only been sewing for about 2 months now, but I just love it. :p So far I've only been making small stuff, like belts and pillow covers.

I wanted to start a thread on TDL to see if anyone else sews, but I wasn't sure where to put it, so I just thought I would post on this one.
