Anna sat at home on the couch in the parlour, contemplating the last week.
She'd gone to the cinema with Skandar and their nieghbors Gloria and Josh; she went out to dinner with her family; she got a call from her schoolmate, Elisabeth; and she hadn't heard Will or Georgie once.
It wasn't so bad that she hadn't heard from Georgie - she was young and lived further away (the day Will had seen her, he discovered, she and her sister Rachael were down for the day in London, shopping). But Will usually called or emailed her and Skandar once a week. From what she gathered from Skandar's sister, Soumaya, Will hadn't contacted Skandar either.
Was he angry with her for what had happened at the confrence? And mad at Skandar for laughing about it all, and knowing but not telling him? No, that would be unlike Will. He usually would hear the other person's side of the story first.
So what was up?
There was only one way to find out.

Skandar and his sister, Soumaya, were clearing the table one night after dinner when the phone rang. Soumaya put the plate she was carrying in the sink and dashed to pick up the phone.
"Hello?" she said. She listened for a second then said, "No, this is his sister...uh huh...oh, hi! Sorry, I didn't recognize your voice...mmhmm...yes...yeah, he's right here, hang on." She handed the phone over to Skandar. He took it.
"Hello?"
"Skandar," it was Georgie.
"Georgie?"
"Yes."
"What's up?"
"Nothing," said Georgie. "I was just wondering whether you'd talked to Will lately."
Skandar shook his head. "No."
"Has Anna?"
"Nope. You?"
"Not since the confrence." Georgie sounded disapointed and worried.
"Oh," said Skandar. Soumaya looked at him curiously.
"Well, I guess I'd better go," said Georgie. "I'll call Anna later. Maybe she knows something."
"Worth a try but I wouldn't count on it," said Skandar glumly. "Bye."
"Bye-bye."
The other line clicked off. He hung up the phone, sighed, and picked up a plate. He carried it to the kitchen where he set it down in the sink and began to wash it.
"What was that all about?" asked Soumaya, following him in.
"Nothing," said Skandar. "Did - did Will call here lately?"
"Will? Oh, Will...um..." Soumaya thought back. "No, why?"
"Georgie hasn't heard from him," said Skandar. "Niether has Anna or me. "
Soumaya shrugged. "Maybe he's busy...or away."
"Maybe," said Skandar, personally thinking that Will was not busy nor away.
