The movie plot,dialogue,and general idea were sound,but as Aravis Kenobi pointed out,the movie's portrayal of the South was rather stereotypes. At least,that's how it is in the beginning. Nearer the end the South is portrayed as more humane. Although that Jagger Jo and Virgil were complete bandits!

All I can say is, Shyamalyan had better get to work if he wants to make the next two movies. Out of the actors, only Dev Patel (Zuko) and Shaun Toub (Iroh) actually acted.
