Last spring my wife and I went to see "The King's Speech" PG-13 version when it was briefly released into theaters. It immediately made my all-time top ten movies list. I confess I had (and still have) mixed emotions in the climactic scene, the speech of King George VI to England with the sublime music of Beethoven's 7th symphony in the background and having Geoffrey Rush bring me to tears as he mouthed the word that gave the movie its R-rating in the first place. I'm a Mormon boy who never sees R-rated movies as a principle and don't use swear words, and yet the magnificence of this scene took me by such surprise. Watching historical clips of the German army mustering under Hitler and an English king trying his best to strengthen his people, all while listening to one of the most beautiful movements written by one of the greatest German composers the world has ever known...
I have been hoping that the movie will be released at some point on DVD in the PG-13 rating, but no word on that as yet.
