What was the last thing you watched?

The first episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

Doctor Who: The Last of the Timelords

And then I found out that David Tennant is going to be voicing a character in the HTTYD TV series again. Its no wonder I've been hyperventilating. ButitsokaybecauseSkilletiscalmingmedown.:p:D

Once Upon a Time. And before that, Henry IV part 2 starring Tom Hiddleston.

And before that, Henry IV part 1... but that one was an actual play at a college.

Henry IV part one is literally one of my favourite Shakespeare plays.

BECAUSE FALSTAFF.

I just love Falstaff so much. Hal's rejection of him in part II of Henry IV is just heartbreaking.

Now I just finished watching Henry V :D

I got through multiple versions of it this weekend and my conclusion was that I really don't like Falstaff that much, even though everyone else in the world does. I think Hal's rejection was a little harsh, but quite possibly necessary (and deserved.) I love Hal though. So much.

Aw, why don't you like him?

Hal's rejection was more than harsh; it was downright cruel. I mean "I know thee not old man, fall to thy prayers! How ill white hairs become a jester..." (from memory, so the actual line might be a bit off...)

I do admit that Falstaff was not a very good influence in some ways, but I think that knocking about with Falstaff and co for so long is part of what gives Hal his humanity and what makes him a better King. He's spent so much time barhopping that he can truly understand the common man. Which is invaluable. And the line that REALLY gets to me is from part one:

"Banish plump Jack and banish all the world."

And that's what he does. By banishing him he sort of sets himself above common man and takes his place as king. He's young, and therefore I think he only sees the corruption in Falstaff and none of the good. (Maybe he would've come around when he got older, but who really knows....)

But in any case, such a cruel (public) rejection of a man who's been both a friend and a father figure is not only unwarranted but also very cold. He could've at the very least done it in private or been kinder about it. And I don't think I quite forgive Hal for deserting him.....especially since he dies soon after.

I watched Unconditional with my mom and younger brother tonight. It's a Christian film, and as a Christian filmmaker myself who prefers dark, gritty fare, I'm usually HIGHLY skeptical of "Christian" films. They're usually too preachy, too saccharine, too contrived, and riddled with bad acting and lacking production values. I'd seen the trailer for this one a while ago and been intrigued as it looked to be of MUCH higher caliber than things like the Sherwood Baptist Church productions.

And I wasn't disappointed! It was a pretty decent film! Well acted, reasonably well shot, and a nice message that was decidedly NOT preachy! It made my mom cry a few times. Check it out! It's available to stream on Netflix.

Part of Star Trek: Voyager, "Tattoo" (not one of my favorite episodes), and The Captains Close Up: Kate Mulgrew. I also watched the last 2 episodes of season 2 of Clone Wars. Or at least I think they're the last two; all the disc sets have 4 discs, and this was disc 4. I can't wait to re-watch season 5 when Netflix finally gets it!

Once Upon a Time, the latest episode in season 3. Robert Carlyle was exceptional in this episode, as always. However I really felt sympathy for Rumple that I had not felt before.
