That's a hard question. Although Legolas is really cool in the books, I don't like him so much in the movies. Sure, he takes on an oliphaunt by himself, and skateboards down the stairs on a shield at Helm's Deep, but I don't like Orlando Bloom as Legolas. Not only did Legolas get stuck with the dumbest lines in the movie, ("A diversion!") but what decent lines he did have Orlando totally overdramatized. "A red sun rises! Blood has been spilled this night!" He looks so goofy with that faraway look in his eyes, staring off into space as he recites a grandiose line.

It's really disappointing that Orlando played Legolas. Orlando Bloom is positively ridiculous!!!! (no offense, fangirls.) But at least he didn't get the part of Faramir, who he auditioned for in the beginning. (Faramir is my favorite male book character of all time.)

I like Gimili. He provides hillarious comic relief, and has many of the funniest lines in the movie. ("That was deliberate! It was deliberate!" Or, "Keep breathing! That's the key! Breathe!") But even though Gimli is really funny, he isn't my favorite. I think that Pippin is the best of the funny characters.

Well, that leaves only one more- Aragorn. He is so awesome!!! He weilds the sword of Elendil, he has many of the most epic lines in the whole movie, and his history is really cool. And he and Arwen are so sweet together. :D
Viggo does a fantastic job bringing Aragorn's essence to the screen. He says his lines just the way Aragorn would, and his facial expressions are perfect. Orlando Bloom's portrayal of Legolas is barely compatible with the book. But Viggo isn't just good at playing Aragorn, he is Aragorn.

Seeing as how I used to be a huge fan of Legolas/Orlando Bloom, I vote Legolas. And I thought Orlando was perfect for the role, btw.
Eh,Legolas has a quite small role,but he's also awesome.:)
Orlando Bloom was okay, never really been a fan.I somewhat pictured someone more...Elf-ish for the role.

Elves rule :) I like Gimli and Aragorn a lot too, but Legolas has always been my favorite.
I used to be a MAJOR fan of Orlando Bloom, but not any more. But I do think that he did a pretty good job as Legolas. Yes, he was a bit too dramatic (and I definitely agree about the red sun line!!), but I think he did a good job, overall. I was always a fan of Legolas, especially in the book so...
Gimli is hilarious and awesome, and Aragorn is so epic and cool, but Legolas is still my favorite.
I think it's cool how they're best friends.

P.S Pippin is awesome! I so agree!

As Viggo himself said it, "He had that you know, perfect, pale Elven complexion..." :D

Yeah probably nobody will get that unless they've seen the behind-the-scenes on the RotK extended edition. ;)

iAdd a poll to the thread, and iVote for Legolas. I just always liked him in the books, and I thought Orly did a great job in the films. I love Aragorn and Gimli, too, but I have to say Legolas is coolest.

In the books Boromir was ok,after he lost himself to the Ring he redeemed himself by fighting all the Uruk-Hai and Orcs.
Just as an afterthought,to all the people who like watching the Lord of The Rings Extended Edition scenes, watch THIS. It completely changed my perception on the movie Boromir (in the books it's a slightly different story). I have no idea why Peter Jackson decided to cut this scene, as it shows a more hidden side of Boromir. *shrugs* Oh well.

One of the best characters in Lord of the Rings is EOMER.Sorry, but he is awesome. Not a huge role, but still awesome.Karl Urban was perfect for the role.Plus Rohan (sort of reminds me of Poland and the other Eastern/Central European countries) is my favorite Middle-earth kingdom.:D

OK,here I will voice my official opinion of Legolas and Gimli (A.K.A. Leggy and Gimmers. :p)-
Legolas...a nice character. J.R.R. Tolkien's perception of the Elves is brilliant,
and Legolas is proof of that. When I first read a little bit of LOTR,when I was 7,Legolas was my favorite (until I got to Eomer.Hehe).Gimli is mostly a stout-hearted comic relief sort of Dwarf, for which I also really like him.So you actually could say that Legolas and Gimli are also still some of my favorites.

But nothing will knock Eomer and Aragorn off the top.
