"What do you think happened to Ivan?" Lisbeth asked. She looked at the others and shifted from one foot to the other uncomfortably.

"Figures," Meridia said.
"He was so vile," Jade added.

"Listen, I'm sure something must of happened to him. Stop bashing him, and start thinking of where he could have been taken."

"None of us know very much about Ivan, either," Lisbeth said quietly. "But if he's not here, and there's no trail to follow, then we should continue to look for a way out. Perhaps Ivan's out already."
"But what if he isn't?" Darron asked. "Then we'll have left one of our own group inside this accursed place."
"Since when did you ever care about leaving some one behind, Darron?" Lisbeth asked. "Answer me that! Since when did you care?"
"Lisbeth -"
"No, don't answer! I don't want to know, because you don't care!" She turned away angrily.
Darron was angry now, too. He DID care, and Lisbeth acted like that! He wanted so badly to change, to be forgiven. Couldn't she see that?

"And you say we squabble," Jade said.

"Listen, I'm not about to leave someone here. If you want to split up fine, But I'm looking for Ivan. Whose with me?"

"You know we are," said Jade and Meridia.

Vissarion would have been unable to say whether the draft the others felt came from the exit he had forced open; but he and Ivan certainly noticed that the weather was cold outside. The swordsman had a cloak which provided some protection from the chill, but the injured man riding on his back had only clothing suitable for mild weather.

Therefore, pausing and lowering Ivan to the ground, Vissarion took off his cloak and wrapped it around the smaller man, to whom it gave good coverage. Then, hoisting Ivan onto his back again, he continued the search for civilization, periodically finding ways to mark his trail.

Ivan was a bit put off about being carried, but he didn't complain. He was perfectly capable of walking. He'd walked before, even when he was paralyzed in his right leg and left arm. And he'd still managed to carry that stupid kid.
"Do you realize that It'll look like I've deserted those people back there? I can't do that, you know! What if they die because I'm not with them? Who's going to protect them? They're a bunch of girls, a kid, and a boy that barely talks!" he snapped at Vissarion.
