Writing A Series In Chronological Order?

I think a lot of us have read a series of books at one time or another. Though do they have to be written in chronological order? Well, there are book series are written that way. Though there are series that weren’t published that way. I’m sure there are numerous examples we could think of.

Now, if you were writing a book series (it could be any genre: fantasy, mystery, end time prophecy fiction, historical fiction), would you write them in chronological order? Why or why not?

This is an interesting topic of discussion here, sorry for not having replied before.
Well, in my case, most of my stories would be in chronological order because it is more of the norm to do so and would ( in most cases) help my readers not deal with the added pressure of trying to keep things in an undated format correct.

But, as you say, there are examples ( or just writer’s whimsy) to change their stories up by having possibly a format of things out of place or structured dates or times to keep a story interesting or engaging with the reader.

But, to boil it down, it is a writer’s preference in my opinion.
