I can't help it... i'm close to them... I don't want them to leave... i'm about to cry!!!
Which thead?
Do you know when they will close them?
I don't think it's right!! I'm a christian and I'm emo!!! so you can be both!!!
OK, folks. Yes, many emo threads are being closed down including the RPG ones. I personally closed several after numerous people complained to a couple of us mods about them. I did leave one emo RPG open as it hadn't gotten to a place of what could be considered bad.
Whether one wants to accept the fact or not, most emo threads, not just on TDL, but on other forums as well, deal with people playing RPG characters that are or become severely depressed. Many of these threads openly have their characters, including on TDL, cutting themselves, taking pills, etc. to do away with the pain of depression. As a pastor I have ministered to a number of young people who have gotten caught up in these emo games and could not separate fiction from reality. Many came into these threads already depressed in real life only to find themselves playing a character similar to themselves. This led a number of them to start cutting in reality and wanting to commit suicide.
EMOs aren't being banned, but those that promote kids or young people becoming depressed severely, sex, drugs, alcohol, and the like will be closed. This is a family-friendly forum and we do not want people promoting such things even in a role playing game.
Now those people still having emotional problems and the like can still post such things in the prayer section for that is not a problem. There are people there who care. As far as saying that one used to be a cutter that is not a problem either if one is acutely aware that the term used to be is in operation except in the Prayer section of the forum.
There are many different types of RPGs that can be played. One does not need to have negative emo ones that just might result in the harm of someone or influence others who may have a hard time separating reality from fiction. That is not what we are about. I hope those that are angry over this will realize that it is not a personal vendetta against anyone here, but rather a precaution, a safety valve we feel needs to be in place to guard and help others. I really hope those who have expressed a desire to leave will not do so as they are valued, loved and needed here.
