We have gotten ahold of the scans that appear in this article, they also wrote it. A new 8-page Narnia catalog advertising the Chronicles of Narnia hit booksellers this week. The catalog describes the movie and the new Narnia-theme additions of the book. Also described is “A Giant Surprise”, the new story based on the character of Puddleglum the Marsh-wiggle. The catalog describes new Narnia book editions and movie companions that will be released next year to coincide with the release of the movie, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. New for Spring 2005: Available for the first time – brand-new adult trade paperback editions of this beloved and classic series by C.S. Lewis. These paperbacks will retail for $10.95 and feature stylized photos/artwork on the covers. The picture at right is a shot of the new cover for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
New Special Editions to be Released: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and The Magician’s Nephew color gift editions (very nice) and a few more books with all seven books included.
Also being released is a short re-telling of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe for younger fans with full-color illustrations by Tudor Humphries and a new book called “The Giant Surprise: A Narnia Story”. The description reads, “An exciting original story based on the beloved characters from C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia. Join Puddleglum, the gloomy but valiant Marsh-wiggle from The Silver Chair, as he and his niece Lally rescue their mice friends from hungry giants.”
The Fall 2005 publishing plan includes a number of new movie tie-in programs. New companion editions will include “Step Into Narnia: A Journey Through The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” and “Beyond the Wardrobe: The Official Guide to Narnia”. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe book will get a new movie cover and an eight-page insert. Also being released is “The Movie Storybook” with photos from the movie and a 64-page chapter book called The Quest for Aslan covering the plot arc of the movie script. Two small books called “Welcome To Narnia” and “Tea with Tumnus” will have simple text which focuses on important scenes from the movie. There will also be two 32-page color and activity books released. Finally, there will be 8×8 storybooks released called “The Creatures of Narnia” and “Edmund and the White Witch.”
