APRIL FOOLS DAY 2009 Twilight Scribe to Pen Dawn Treader

Numerous sources are reporting that once again, another writer has stepped in to write the script for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie. The newest choice will come as a surprise to many. Author Stephenie Meyer, the woman behind the New York Times Best Selling series Twilight, has been tapped to take the latest crack at the story.

Stephanie Meyer“She can help bring a lot of fresh ideas to the table,” says one source. “She can also help bring in audience members. People know who she is far more then CS Lewis.”

“Lewis represents the ideas of the past,” says a second source. “Meyer represents the future. This is the perfect blending.”

There is a bit of concern that some aspects of her books, namely vampires, may find there way into Narnia. However sources close to Michael Apted and Douglas Gresham insist that both men will work tirelessly to rein her in properly.

“There will be no sparkly vampires in in my movie,” said Apted. “And Edward Cullen won’t be in Dawn Treader either.”

Voyage of the Dawn Treader isn’t the only major fantasy film that studios are wanting Meyer to take help adapt. She is current is in talks to take over screen writing duties from Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Guillermo Del Toro on The Hobbit, while Warner Brothers is keen to have her work on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.

“She will help make these stories so much better!” says one insider. “ Lewis and Tolkien may have been the kings of fantasy, but Stephenie Meyer is the reigning queen .”

Update: But she has not been, nor ever will be a writer for Narnia. With that in mind dear friends, I have but one thing to tell you and that is APRIL FOOLS!

  1. Yes Yes Yes she would be fantastic, she a such a vivid imagination I think she would really inchant this story line.

  2. I hope they stick with THIS one! I mean, after all the people they’ve passed scripting duties to, they’d better get their act together and manage to keep someone. Not the person I’d pick, really, but… she’ll have to do.

    And oh. Happy holidays.

  3. Hahahaaaaaaaa!! *cackles gleefully* This is BRILLIANT! Your April Fool’s Jokes this year are great! And some people are actually buying into them! That makes them even MORE brilliant! Kudos to you, NarniaFans! 😀

What blows me away, though…unless they’re just playing along with the joke…is that some people think Stephanie Meyer would be good for the Narnia franchise. She would totally destroy it, guys! Mixing Twilight with Narnia, in any way, shape or form, is like drinking orange juice after you’ve brushed your teeth. (And if you’ve ever done that, you KNOW what I mean.)

Not only that, but – Meyer. Can’t. Write. No offense to any Twilight fans, but her Mary Sues/Gary Stus, plot holes, lousy sentence structure and gushy prose gives me headaches. In my opinion, she doesn’t hold a candle to the cleverness, humor, depth and simple beauty of C. S. Lewis’s stuff.

Disclaimer: I hold nothing against Twilight fans, I respect that people can like or hate whatever they want, and that last paragraph is my own opinion. Please don’t rip my head off. 😛 Peace out, Narniacs!

  4. I’m not sure if this is an April fools joke…or…normal.I’ve read Ms. Meyer’s Twilight books and I think they’re good.But….she’s a Mormon and I think that kinda clashes a little bit with Narnia.I hope she stays true to most(if not all) of the original story of Dawn Treader.

  5. That is hilarious. And no, the Twilight books are terrible. I haven’t read them but I just know. Honestly, Meyer shouldn’t direct any more movies.

  6. No…no…no!!!!! WHY????!!!!!
I know that this is a joke…but if it were true I would NOT be seeing VDT…

  7. hehe and wasnt it two years ago on April Fools that they announced that Lindsay Lohan was to be in Prince Caspian? 😛

  8. Look, if this is a joke, please PLEASE say so! I am frightened out of my wits hoping that this is an April fools joke…

  9. I hope this is a joke. I really wouldn’t want the author of Twilight adapting a script for Narnia…it just doesn’t mix.

  10. OMg no i haVE READ meyers book they are not written well in comparision to NArnia. I hope to god this is an april fools prank because meyer is a bad righter and her modern ideas would clash with the idea NArnia takes place along time ago is fox and walden a retard. PEace out NArnis and hope this is a joke like serious. im going to look into it

  11. and also Meyer the Queen of fantasy. Twilight isnt fantasy it is a bunch a fruity vampires sparkiling in the sun.LEwis and Toilken will always rule the fantasy world

  12. Please say this is an April Fool’s joke. If not, it looks there are two movies I can cross off my list of must-sees.

  13. I. Am. Shaking. Seriously, if they let such a terrible writer write it, I will cry and rage at the heavens. It was okay when she was just writing Twilight. But this? This is disgusting! Please be an April Fools’ joke…

  14. I think they’re serious, you guys.
    She’s really doing this.
This is the worst possible thing that could happen to the Narnia series.
    1. She’s Mormon.
    2. She can’t write.

    Period.

  15. THATS NOT FUNNY.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO US, NARNIAFANS???
Guys, don’t worry. I’m sure this is a JOKE!!!!!!!!!
In the tiny chance that it’s not, though, who want to join me in MURDERING MEYER????
    sorry… this really upset me.
    ITS NOT FUNNY!!!!!!!!

  16. Ditto to you, post 10! 😀

haven’t read Twilight before, but the world of Twilight just don’t mix with narnia.

Narnia has stayed with the test of time and in the hearts of many many people for many many years…..Can Twilight stand the test of time? we’ll have to see about that….(runs and ducks…..)

  17. Good one!! I actually believed it- trust me not to read the date it was put on here!! 😀

  18. No. I can’t believe this at all. I’m speechless. How could they do this to C.S.Lewis. One of my favorite authors works is being made into movie and my least favorite author, who I would like to stick my foot in her ass, is possibly on the script team?! WHY!?

  19. Oh, hey I didn’t realize that before. I was so mad I went straight to the comments section. Gotta slow down there.

  20. Man, somebody was bored if they could think up some of these REALLY MEAN April Fools’ jokes (even though it’s not April Fools’ anymore.)! That’s really mean, and I think they should stop it. I don’t think it’s right. I’m sorry if I sound mean, but this is what I really think. They need to stop ’cause I’m getting angry about this. I keep getting excited (about the one about Mel Gibson and Kirk Cameron) and then I find out that it’s NOT TRUE. It’s really annoying and it bugs me greatly (if you can’t already tell).
I’m sorry if I sound like a snob, but this is what I think about this.

  21. It’s a joke. If it wasn’t, Smeyer would be bragging about it right now. Also, Meyer is planning to release five new books this year. I really don’t think she has time for writing a script.
