No sooner did producer Perry Moore say that Principal Photography started next week, than we got reports to the contrary from a number of people. I haven’t been online in a few hours, though, so I wasn’t able to catch them until just now.
Director Michael Apted’s personal assistant Cort Kristensen says that filming started on July 22. They’ve got the first shot of the movie’s schedule, though there is no word on what that shot is, or where it will fit in the movie.
MyArtIsMyLife writes: I visited Movie World and they are filming in the carpark. I was at the Spit on 23rd July and I KNOW they were filming in the carpark on that day. I can’t get to close because of security fences but have taken photos when I could. There is a very large blue sceen with a lawn in front and a fence made of bricks covered in plaster and wrought iron railings inbetween the pillars.”
It’s really quite good to know that while filming appears to have begun. It doesn’t necessarily contradict with the start of principal photography, however, as many films will have a second unit shooting things before and after the first unit starts and finishes the filming with the primary actors. This could all be establishing shots or extras, but it could also be something more.
Now, NarniaWeb has more information about filming happening on Sunday at a certain location:
‘The Centenary centre carpark will be unavailable for use on Sunday 26th July due to the filming of the Chronicles of Narnia. Visitors can park on the road leading into the school (TSS) and also in the cricket carpark. It may be a good idea to allow extra time to find a car spot.’
More here.
They also report that the Twitter update about the start of production was removed from Twitter, but it hasn’t been. It’s right here.
Haha, sorry, that was my bad. When I said it was “pulled off of Twitter” what I meant was it came from Twitter, not that it had been removed.

Yeah.. that phrasing means that they literally removed it. haha… I will say, though, that with that being the case, it doesn’t give it less credibility. Lots of things come from ComicCon via Twitter. It’s like anything, you have to consider the source of the content, not the site that it’s on.
The word “principle” struck me when I first saw the report. So, technically, Perry Moore’s statement was accurate. He just wasn’t telling the whole story, which is either because he did not know (doubtful) or he was just not giving everything he knew to keep the other filming secret (which is certainly understandable).
It’s happening and the movie is being made and lensing will not be in doubt even a week from now. Sail on VDT!
this is wonderful!!! Thanks to the people who do find out this stuff for us! I’m really excited for VDT!!!!! “Further up and further in”
They were filming at my school today (TSS) 😀
Hey Cooper! Where do you go to school? Did you see what sort of costumes they were in or why they were filming there? Could it be some sort of introduction for Eustace?
