Historic Ship ‘Matthew’ of Bristol to become Dawn Treader for Promo

A few weeks ago I e-mailed the people at the ‘Matthew of Bristol’ website asking for more information about their upcoming promotion for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. While they haven’t gotten back to me yet, word has gotten around, it seems, to other Narnia fansites, so I figured I should do my part and report what we know about it.

It’s going to be outfitted to look like the Dawn Treader, because the one used for the film was not built to be seaworthy and is now a huge part of film history. So they opted to hire this company to make a Dawn Treader that will likely be used for the World Premiere of the film. Actual usage remains to be seen.

  1. so awesome! nice to see that fox is doing more to promote VDT. so can’t wait for the trailer and the movie!

  2. It does look like the Dawn Treader, a bit. Can’t wait for the trailer next week. Fox is doing a better job getting VDT out than Disney did with PC and LWW. I was not sure about having Fox do VDT, but I can now see that Fox is going to do all they can to make this movie as big as it can be. Keep it up Fox!

  3. I think you mean “actual” rather than “actually” (last sentence.)

This is absolutely awesome. I wanna go see it now! 😀

  4. Bristol 😀 I’ve been on that I live in Bristol awesome that Bristol has a shout out 🙂

  5. What are they going to use the ship for?? I really can’t wait for the trailer. Toy Story 3 comes out today…

  6. Great idea to use the Matthew dressed up as the Dawn Treader to promote VDT. People will be talking about it if it looks like the book/movie version with the Dragon’s head and tail. Sail on VDT! 🙂

  7. fancy, I like that boat. Beautiful ship. Can’t wait to see “Matt” in the promo!

  8. Ok, the News that the Matthew is dressing up as Dawn Treader is really spooky for me, cause I was living in Cleveland Australia when the filmed it their last Sept, my kids came out of school to watch filming which was so cool, now we have moved to the uk, near Bristol and get to see her all over again. I hear the ‘orginal’ vessel now at attraction at Movieworld on the Gold coast.
