Dawn Treader’s Arabella Morton has a Facebook Page

When I visited the set of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, I was introduced to young Miss Arabella Morton by Mr. Gresham. She seemed very shy when I met her, but I recognized that as a typical behavior of children. She was great around the cast and crew that she had spent some time with, and I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: she is a total sweetheart. In the photo here, she is with Shane Rangi, who you might recognize from the features on the DVDs. He plays the lead Minotaur in all three Narnia films so far.

In The Voyage of the Dawn Treader she plays Gael, a role that is controversial among some Narnia fans as the character does not appear in the book. I do know more about the role that the character plays in the film, however, and I must say that it is a welcome one. But you’ll have to wait until either a trailer gives away something, or the movie comes out, whichever comes first. When I watched her film a couple of times, I noticed how much effort she put into every take, and was very impressed. Wait until you see her.

Anyway, she now has an official fan page on Facebook! Be a fan of Arabella Morton!

  1. While I’m still not sure I like her character add, I do like her. I’m looking forward to being proved wrong when I see the movie. 🙂

  2. the minotaurs are pretty cool creatures. I think CS lewis would not be too upset with some extra characters as long as she doesn’t take away from the main story line. I didnt like the change up in the last movie so impress me! lol

  3. I don’t know alot about the new Narnia movie, but for me its just seeing people and creatures brought to life and I just enjoy the movies and thats good enough for me. Looking forward to December.

  4. I am solidly of the “stick to the book” faction, and hopefully her addition will augment the film rather than steer it off-course. Of course, it doesn’t take a Hollywood executive to see why Prince Caspian didn’t do that well, and again, hopefully, Apted will steer The Dawn Treader to Lewis’ original journey.

    • The Prince Caspian book doesn’t have enough in it to make a good film. they had to add more to it and what they added was great. The book is one thing and the movie is another. They have to add or else it just doesn’t go far. The reason Caspian didn’t do as well was LWW is because LWW was being used as an outreach with churches and Caspian wasn’t.

      • They, um, could have lost the teen romance thing, though. That DEFINITELY didn’t do anything for the story – other than getting crazy young girls to like it.

Oh, well. As Aslan says in the first movie, “What’s done is done.”

        • I’m not going to post what happens here, but if you’ve read “The Last Battle,” that was definitely in character for one of those involved.

          • Y’know, I agree with you on that. I actually liked what they did in PC with Su–it really foreshadows what happens to her in LB. At least, I thought the change of attitude was a big bit of foreshadowing. I still have a problem with the whole Caspian romance thing, but in terms of her, yes, it was in-character.

  5. I think they probably added her because Lucy doesn’t have anyone to hang out with…well, no other girls. I guess they thought she needed another girl on the voyage to be buddies with. However, I never noticed her NEEDING a buddy in the book. It seems like she was perfectly content. And as for the minotaurs, it always seemed to me there needed to be MORE narnian creatures on the voyage. Even though it is my favorite book, the only strictly Narnian character is Reepicheep, the rest are men. So if you ask me, minotaurs good, adding random girls in on the voyage…I’ll have to wait and see..

  6. There is a really good scene of her in the super trailer. If Fox releases that super trailer I think that you will find her character a very good addition to the movie. Her scene and Lucy reading the magic book are my favorite scenes in the super trailer. Maybe Fox will release a clip of the scene between Lucy and Gael, but it might give too much away. It is a great scene with some good moral values and well acted. Both Lucy and Gael are very sweet.

  7. I’m still iffy about the addition of her character, but if you’ve gotten some of the inside scoop and think it works, Paul, then I’ll take your word for it. She definitely looks like a very sweet girl, and a lot like Georgie when she was in LWW 🙂

I can’t wait to see how she fits into the movie.

  8. Hi all,

    Your comments are all justified.

I know Arabella and her family personally, and truthfully, you could not find a more loving and grounded family. There are no divas in this household….

Arabella is the most polite and sweetest girl I have met in a long time (I am a mum of two boys….)

Please, Narnia fans, do not judge her before you see the movie. If you met her in person, you would probably melt….

She has been casted as new character, please do not be too harsh on her…
