The Voyage of the Dawn Treader – Trailer #2

While I am hoping to get an HD version of the trailer, soon, this will have to do for now. It’s the second trailer for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. This one features some new footage and some old footage. This trailer can be found on the DVD for Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

  1. The first one was better in my opinion, but still pretty cool. Was that Ben Barnes’s voice as Caspian at the end of it saying “think of the lost souls we’re here to save..”? I love the beginning with the chorus, though.

  2. I love the Chronicles Of Narnia. Loved the first one, still watch it from time to time, Loved the second one. Now I am just waiting for this one to hit the theaters. When will that be??????

      • I just looked at the list of the top-twenty high grossing film franchises of all time, and sadly, The Chronicles of Narnia is no longer on the list. The last time I checked it was #20, and it was most likely kicked off the list due to the largely successful Toy Story 3 adding $800 million to that franchise. I’m not sure though. All I know is that by the time VDT has finished it’s run in theaters, I hope Narnia will have regained a spot on the list. So go and see it as many times as you can and tell all your friends about it. One bright spot: LWW is still on the fifty highest-grossing films of all time list, although it is now down to the #35 spot. Really nothing we can do about that.

        • Currently, as of August 8th, VDT would have to gross these amounts to get on the following lists (The film with that it would have to surpass is in parentheses):

50 Top Grossing Films of All Time: $623,707,397 (Ratatouille)

Top Ten Highest Grossing Films of 2010: $310,325,182 (Robin Hood)

In order for Narnia to make back on to the Top Twenty Highest-Grossing Film Franchises list, VDT would have to make the following amount. (The franchise the series would have to surpass is in parenthesis.): $233,637,233 (The Mission: Impossible franchise currently holds the #20 spot with a combined gross of $1,401,934,476.; Narnia’s current combined gross from the first two films is $1,168,297,243.)
If all of us fanatics go see and bring our friends and maybe see it lots of times, I think we can make our way on to each of these lists!

          • I would also like to point out that Narnia did have a small presence at the Teen Choice Awards this year: William Moseley was there presenting with Emma Roberts (the two are co-starring in the upcoming film A Great Education; I wonder if William will be rockin’ an American accent for this movie?; hope it’s better than his short attemp during the LWW commentary:). This was a small presence, but a presence nonetheless. And, responding to your comment, Patrick, my research wasn’t that hard to come by, but don’t be surprised if I start posting more; I am a math geek.

          • William has also joined the Stand Up 2 Cancer movement and was in their “Change the Odds” video. I applaud him for joining the fight against cancer.

  3. Sorry about that I just found the count down on this page. Didn’t see it before. I guess it really isn’t that far off. Can hardly wait. I will take my Grandson, it is one of his favorite Movie also.

  4. This is sad.
When will they Eustace as a dragon or Gale? this did not show us anything. This trailer did not really show us anything that other trailer did.

  5. The visuals are so much better in this trailer. I do wish that they wouldn’t emphasize Peter and Susan this much, since they’re not going to be a big part of the movie. Ben’s British accent fits more with this film than the spanish accent. (I also saw the trailer for another film that he’s in, LOCKED IN, in which he was rockin’ an American accent. Is there nothing he can’t do?). Overall, the trailer boosted my spirits about the film, and I’m even more excited. I wish they would have chosen a different film to attach it to, though (Diary of a Wimpy Kid is not the greatest film ever). Good push in marketing, Fox!

  6. Trailer #2 isn’t as good as the first one, and it’s funny that it was attached to a movie like Diary of a Wimpy Kid. But it’s reassuring to see Fox marketing VDT more. And unlike some people, I am going to be optimistic about this film. I can’t blame people for being afraid of what it’ll turn out to be, since they do have a few reasons for it. But in my opinion, we are Narnia fans after all and we should be supporting the franchise no matter what.

  7. I like this trailer WAY better. I respectfully disagree. Both are good, but this one got me way more into the film in less time. Brilliant.

  8. I liked the first one better. Whenever I see Reepicheep, he looks different than he does in the posters. However, he looks like he did in Prince Caspian, so I am hoping it’s just the posters that don’t do him justice.
Why was the camera crooked at the beginning? I thought I was watching the latest Star Trek movie (no offense)!
This trailer makes the movie more promising! It looks like they kept in some stuff from the book, so I’m hoping the little romance between Susan and Caspian won’t somehow be continued in this film. Sorry to sound so critical, but I dread them overly changing the movie.
Also, what was that about saving lost soles? I don’t remember that in the book, unless they mean the lords that sailed off. What do you think?
    ~ReepicheepFan

    • Woops, I should have said, “over changing the book.” My mistake. :/
      ~ReepicheepFan

      • Remember, though: They aren’t changing the book. Pick up the book and you’ll still read the same thing that you read before. After they make the movie, the book is still the same. I understand what you’re saying, but how you’re saying it is technically incorrect.

        • Ya, I didn’t know quite how to word this. That was the best I could do. But ya, I see what you mean. 😉
          ~ReepicheepFan

        • As long as we’re being technical, you should say, they’re not changing the book AGAIN. 🙂

          • Well, technically, that is also incorrect. The filmmakers never change the text of the book in any way, shape or form. The publisher is the one that changed the numbering. Lewis altered some of the text and names between the UK and US versions (Fenris Ulf to Maugrim).

          • Fenris Ulf to Maugrim, respectively.
He changed The US versions too say Fenris Ulf, and HarperCollins changed them back.

  9. Initial thoughts:

    1) Nice to see a trailer attached to target-audience friendly movies.
    2) Liked the tag-line about “greatest voyage”, but think they should change it to, “The greatest voyage the world has ever seen!”
    3) Reepicheep’s voice — very inconsistent amongst the 2 trailers. Personally, I liked his voice in the previous trailer better. Hope they get it right…
    4) The trailer was a bit Lucy heavy. Hope they advertise Edmund, Caspian, and even Eustace a bit more so they don’t alienate boys. Though Lucy looks great, you don’t want to overdo it in the advertising.
    5) A lot of the footage was stuff from the old trailer. IT’s funny cause it seems like maybe Fox is holding new cinematic footage (ie, the dragon and the sea monster, which EVERY fan is probably dying to see) until later.

Nice to see a new trailer though and hope the post production is going well. Hope for a great movie and, if possible, a fantastic box office!

  10. I can’t wait to see it…. i like this trailer better than the other one but i still like the other too…..

  11. Love it! I love how they have Caspian speaking with his British accent 😉 Now we have TWO clips to watch while we wait! Im so excited for December 10th! 🙂

  12. Cool trailer. the clips on the VBS will be coming August 16 so we will be able to see more VDT clips which will come out August 16 not too long from now.

  13. I liked the new shots as in the beginning and am glad that VDT is being promoted. Sail on VDT! 🙂

  14. look closly at the beging the window on that building has the walden media thig c how it changes from the walden logo the that building window thats y the camra is croked at the beging.

  15. This trailer was good but not as good as the first. The clip where Lucy is talking to Aslan in the mirror still looks like Aslan is a puppet and nothing amazing. Still the building from the beginning is still really cool. Is it the house of the Magician or something else. Love that more is coming. Fox is starting to get things right. I was without internet for two weeks and had no way of seeing what was going on in the world of Narnia. What a thing to come back to.

  16. the building at the beginning is the 1 where edmund trys 2 enlist in the army look at the 1st trailer.

  17. This trailer doesn’t have the normal Narnia look. I don’t know what it is that looks different, but it is something. If anyone has any ideas please tell me.

  18. This trailer was AMAZING!!! And I am actually really liking that Peter and Susan are showing up in the trailers and posters. Ever since I was like 5 I was always kind of annoyed that they weren’t in all of the books. The best, epic part of the trailer is when the music just pops out and the four Pevensies are walking together. Something else very appealing to it is the music. Is that a song already out that they used that someone might perhaps know the name of??? or is it what we can expect from the “new” Narnia music by the new composer. That was something I also really have enjoyed about the films is the music.

  19. I can’t wait until this movie comes out!!! I loved Edmund in the books and i think Skandar plays him well! (and hes cute…) I really enjoyed the whole series and its hard to pick favorites but this is probly one of mine! SKANDAR/EDMUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<3<3<3
    I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    p.s. I am not a fangirl or stalker…
