Today was a very good day. Courtney and I were driven to the port where the Dawn Treader awaited. When we got there, about eleven in the morning, we had to wait around for about an hour and a half. We made the best of it, though, climbing on a wall that must be thousands of years old and learning a song from one of the Italian women. The Dawn Treader has a certain number of people that it can hold safely so they had to get the numbers down before more people could be on board.
When we finally left for the Dawn Treader, we were brought out to it by life-raft. We had to climb out of the raft and scale the side of the ship to get on board. That was a very difficult thing to do, but we were excited to have accomplished such a small feat. Especially with what the competitors have been doing this week.
The next thing we did was to open the sail for the first time. It was a brilliant sail with purple coloring and the movie’s logo across it. I had a great time filming the process of setting that whole thing up, but that’s not the only cool thing about it. They asked me to help put the sail back up as we were getting closer to the island that would serve as the next challenge for the contestants.
I’ve shot over a hundred videos so far, but haven’t posted them all until I have time to put together something with music.
One really cool thing to note, before I forget, is that Courtney and I have the unique pleasure of being the first people in the world to have set foot on both the movie Dawn Treader and the faux-Dawn Treader that is being used in publicity. Everyone keeps asking me how it compares to the real thing. It’s a very good scale replica of the original.
The island that we sailed to has a castle on the top of it, which is owned by two families. About nine people currently live there, and this is all year round. It was an absolutely breathtaking and incredible place to visit. It was also unlike any place that I have ever been.
Who knows what adventures we’ll be having for the next couple of days before the adventure comes to a close.
Alright, I’ll have more for you when I have more of a connection of some kind. I have to get up early tomorrow morning to make sure that I am packed and ready for the next step!
It looks amazing! Such an amazing experience, you’re lucky.
ditto…
That must of been such a surreal experience, to literally be at sea aboard the Dawn Treader. Just crazy to even think about it. 🙂
cant wait til dec 10. i love narnia, its my favorite movie of all time!!!
So are you going to combine all your videos together to make a cool “movie”? Your trip sounds so cool! Do you feel magical? 😀
Yes I am.
I’m sailing! I’m sailing! I’m a sailor. Ahoy!
….I just let the boat do the work that was my secret.
Glad you are having fun and that the people are awesome!
All our children have loved the Chronicles of Narnia; their dad read all the books to them each night before bedtime. I since have read them all as well and be Voyage of the Dawn Treader is one of my favorite. Can’t wait for Dec. 10. One of our sons would have been 34 four days before this release date.
